I don't see the new 2018 colours

"Puro Bianco Perla" (PWW)
"Grigio Chiaro" (PSP)

Colour nerds... the white and silver are so close not sure why they bothered changing. Maybe "in the flesh" they look different or maybe formulation changes required it.

 

No problem. I didn't include them because I only had access to 2017 brochures. Thank you for providing them! Are the codes that you have listed the ones on the vehicles or the codes?

 

What's missing is the paint code for the Heritage Abarth red mirror caps, lower grill trim, and tow hook cover. It is significantly different from the Rosso red and has a touch of orange in it. The lower grill takes lots of abuse and I'm sure that at one point I'll need touch-up paint.

 

Jim ...inside your mirror caps it says A 4 A, Mazda paint code for True Red. Stevelkinevil can perhaps confirm this with the rattle can color he had mixed.

 

Very helpful! Can you clarify a bit more whether the multiple codes you list are all the same shade (Mazda A7V Rosso shows 2 different Fiat codes) or do they derive from the use of the same name with different shades on other models?

 

Yes of course! Basically I found the codes in two different brochures and each brochure contained multiple codes. I appreciate that I didn't make this clear in the original post. Is an admin able to unlock the post so I can continue to update it as we gather more information?

Using Rosso Passione as an example: I have written "162/C/RKM 945843 | PR2 895A 895B". What this means is that I found "162/C/RKM 945843" in booklet one and "PR2 895A 895B" in booklet two.

I do not know what the booklet one codes mean. However, I know that the the each of the three codes found in booklet two (i.e. PR2 895A and 895B) all returned the same formula when entered into my guy's paint database. That means it doesn't matter which of the three you use.

Do you know the paint code for the dark gray details on the Abarths?

 

If you look carefully dark grey items (wheels, mirrors caps, windshield frame, etc...) on the Abarth is very dark bronze. For cost saving, I won't be surprised it's the same color as Bronze Magnetico on some US Lusso/Classica and Canadian Prima edition.

 

Yes I think you?re right. There doesn?t seem to be an official Abarth trim code. I?ve tried to match some touch up paints to the mirror trims/windscreen bevel but have yet to find a match.

 

I found this whole paint code search a bit confusing, so I decided to go to the horse's mouth and see what insight FCA could lend. After multiple back and forth inquiries (why?, I don't know) here is their response to those seeking Rosso touch up paint for a 2017 Classica.

"Here are the paint codes for your vehicle:
PR1 VR-111/A paint code;
Pin brush: 68262127AA
Spray: 68262128AA
This is the FIAT 500 paint code/part number however the Rosso (red) is

the same red, there may be a slight mismatch however this is the case

with most touch-up paints."

Take it as truth or not, but I'm tired of trying to negotiate with FCA to answer the simple, "What color (paint code) is my car?"

 

Thanks for this information. The idiots at FCA do not have any touch up paint for our cars, so the aftermarket, or Mazda will have to suffice.

Can anyone clarify. What paint codes they used for this car? In the process 9f getting the hood, trunk and spoiler done black. The mirror and front bumper accent red. Just like the image.

There should be two tire inflation stickers on the door jam drivers side. One from Mazda. one from fiat. The Mazda one will not have any actual tire info on it because the wheels and tires were done by Fiat hense the fiat tag. But the Mazda one has the paint code on it.

 

Introduction

The list below came about after I went through the tortuous process of trying to find touch up paint for my Abarth 124 Spider in Costa Bravia 1972 Red (also known as Rosso Passione). It turns out that finding the correct paint for these cars isn't very easy. In my particular case, the code 'A7V' (which is written on the Mazda branded panel in the car) didn't seem to match any paint code in any database anywhere! Eventually, I managed to find the correct paint and the chip is now fixed. In the process of finding the correct pain I cam across a lot of useful information that I will try and consolidate and share with you all today.

Call for help: I'd like to continue to verify the information I have collected. Feel free to post the code from your car along with the 'branded' colour of your car in the comments below so that we can see if the pattern is consistent around the world.

Why is it so hard to identify the correct paint?

I think the collaborative development and manufacture of the 124 Spider is the cause of the strange paint codes. The process probably went something like this:

1. Fiat develops the formulas for the 124 Spider paints and gives each formula a Fiat paint code (i.e. 123).
2. Fiat gives Mazda a copy of those formulas so that Mazda can make the paint and apply it to the 124 Spider. In so doing, Mazda creates its own version of the paint and gives it a Mazda paint code (i.e. ABC).
3. Mazda paints the car and labels it with the Mazda paint code (i.e. ABC).
4. Fiat publishes its list of 124 Spider paint formulas but uses the Fiat paint code (i.e. 123).

I think the above makes sense. The paint code on the car (at least in Australia) is on a Mazda label and the format of the code seems to be consistent with published Mazda codes. It also makes sense that Mazda wouldn't include that code in their colour brochures as it doesn't apply to any of their vehicles. I am also confident that the colours are developed by Fiat because some of them are available on other Fiat vehicles. That and Fiat has published brochures that contain very clearly assign particular colour codes to the 124 Spider.

How do I find my paint code?

I have scoured the web for bits and pieces of information and have put together a table that cross references the different names for the same colour, the Fiat codes and the Mazda codes.

paint me frustrated!



A recent trip to Roger Beasley Mazda in Austin TX was a fail. A fairly competent parts guy told me that without a VIN number I was SOL. Mazda doesn't tie colors, like "Winning Red" to year or trim level. This is the color I'm pretty sure that is the "Rosso" on the 2017 Abarth. I think it is from a 95 Miata.

I just ordered Titanium Flash Color Code 42S from Amazon. That is a Mazda color that is supposed to match my Bronzo Magnetico 2017 Lusso. Perhaps it's just me but I find it confusing trying to find the right touch up paint. My order arrives this week and I'll let the forum know how closely it matches.

 

You can say that again. I think the 162/C/RKM matches the red rosso based on the color chart here, but trying to make sure. I have a minute spot you have to know where it is to see it. The problem is I know where it is, lol.

 

mariokart - I tried to take your nice writeup and complete the updates for you on my Specs page. Here is my blog article that you inspired that has the specs as well. Seems like it's best just to go to a Mazda dealer to order our touch-up paint.

 

Found this on Amazon. It has a PR1 designation, and the color chart posted here shows a PR2 number along with many others. I wonder if this is the 500 Abarth Red Rosso

I find this a little odd, but my car is painted Nero Cinema | Black | Jet Black | San Marino 1972 Black

Yet the black is clearly a metallic black and not jet black. Do I have an car that was painted incorrectly, labelled incorrectly or is Nero Cinema really a metallic black.

 

Mazda's name is Jet Black Mica, and it is indeed metallic, as noted in my list.

 

Contacted the local Mazda dealer and after a long discussion where VIN number along with the Mazda A7V paint code was exchanged, he indicated that my car VIN number was not yet in their database. I then contacted my FCA dealer, and he was unable to find anything. He then called Chrysler and called me back a while ago and said the paint will not be available until sometime in the second quarter

 

Two outfits I have found online. One is called Paintscratch.com. I submitted the A7V paint code and they replied a day later and it is on the web site for the Spider. They call it A7V bright Red. Another company Automotivetouchup. com has most of the codes listed by the OP here. The PR2, 895,895B codes they call Hypnotique Red

The only place that offered the A7V code was "paint scratch" so I am taking a flyer on a small touch up kit. Will update once here

 

Anyone figure out a color for the Abarth "gun metallic" trim yet? I got the red tow hook/lower lip but they don't look right in red on the red car, so I was thinking of going the S-Design route and doing them to match the windshield/hoops/mirrors.

Someone (somewhere) mentioned that https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00106C9CK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 worked nicely on curb rash, and I ordered a can to try. Did a pretty good job on a small piece of wheel rim, but it's not gonna work for the lower lip.
