I see the odometer lists two separate "Average MPG" listings of different amounts. Is one for one of the trip meters and the other for the total odometer miles on the vehicle?
Yes. The "Info" button switches between Average and Current. There is also a "setting" that allows you to switch the Average to the overall average or the Trip A average.
Only been averaging 9.5L/100km/29.6MPG(IMP)/24.7MPG(US) on City Highway mix.
Car is new and tight, but we used to get 8L/100km/35.2MPG(IMP)/29.4MPG(US) doing the same work out of our Alfa MiTo QV hatch which had the same engine in the same state of tune (identical power/torque) as the Abarth, and weighed about the same.
On the long highway distance home and for the first tank, I babied mine and got 38 mpg US out of it. 2nd tank with some very spirited driving got 32 mpg US. I was hoping the 38 would be an expected number to hit and not an outlier, but I should expect 32-34 mpg in a mostly highway setup, which is what I get in my NA Miata with 100-200 lbs less weight, and half the power. I'm okay with that
If I'm taking an easy back road drive, I get around 32mpg, but when commuting to work lately I'm seeing about 26mpg. My gas mileage was better before installing the muffler delete but that's only because I love the sound of the engine under power now. So, I tend to be a lot heavier on the throttle than I was early on.
Im averaging about 30, Abarth manual. About 80+% highway about 80mph in 6th. First drive to work I got 35+ not sure what changed but 30 is still pretty good, especially considering its a bit hilly (Between Denver and Colorado Springs, my last commuter was getting 14
According to the MPG App, over the past 3000 miles my mileage average has held steady at 34.0 MPG (US), which makes me happy. However, I have recently been noticing that I am only doing 320 miles to 10 gallons. That makes me less happy because either Shell or FIAT is cheating me. Who would you blame?
Now that I've got 2500 miles on the car I will post some numbers.
I've got as high as 34, and as low as 23. It reflects highway, and then getting stuck in traffic.
There have been plenty of rides that were between 26 and 30 too. Like any engine, if it can "stretch it's legs" the mpg goes up. I am very pleased since it seems to be close to the numbers my 2K SE Miata did. It had 105K when we parted and was still tight.
best regards
Pete
I am not gonna complain about a 29.6 mpg on my daily trip to work and back. Much better than 19 mpg in my s2000. I am sure if I could keep my foot out of it a little more I could do better, but I prolly won't!
I know what you mean. For some reason I can't stop taking her up to the limit as hard as I can at almost every light. I was always a "I'll get there eventually" type, but since I got Lola I need to be pushed into the seat every chance I get! (And don't get me started on slow, leisurely turns...)
Temps were pushing 60F here yesterday, so I took my Spider out for a long cruise and noted the avg MPG's were 34.4.
Car has approx 2,200 relatively easy break-in miles, and the tach has only seen 5K plus RPMs a few times. That will all change in the Spring.
In the first two weeks and 1,000 miles I’ve had the car it’s averaged 30 MPG. I’m happy with that number. By comparison my 2018 JKU Rubicon with 35” tires gets 15 MPG.
However, now that my Abarth has a complete GWR RoadsterSport exhaust I catch myself hitting the gas harder to hear the exhaust every chance I get, so I anticipate my fuel economy to drop a couple of MPG.
How can that be all you get? Really bad gas. I get in the low 30’s all the time, hi way and city driving. If i baby and do back mountain roads, baby because tooooo many frickin deer, i hit 39 mpg
I've been tracking mine for the past year and I'm getting 33.5 mpg with an average of 283.3 miles per tank so far, it costs me $0.10 per mile to drive my car lol.
