Curious to know if anyone has seen any TV advertising of the 124?
I'm in UK where every 30 mins there is a funky 500 advert but I've yet to see any for the 124.
Loads of magazine write-ups but nothing on TV.
Had my Lusso for 4 wks and done best part of 1000mls and have yet to see another on the road, this with two local Fiat dealers within 15 mls. Seen numerous MX-5s who always do a double take!
Drove past one dealer and prime selling spot was again a 500!
Interesting to hear people having to wait 8 wks for a car which would imply that they are flying out the door and possible reason for not actively advertising.
I must have been lucky as I only waited 9 days for mine .... :D

I've seen just one 124 when out driving, and I happened to be in my Eunos MX5. The 124 was a demonstrator (with a bit of advertising blurb on the doors) and had just one occupant - so probably a salesman. I was going in the opposite direction and waved at the driver of the 124, who gave me a classic 'don't be such a weirdo' look!
The etiquette of this inter-brand waving lark is going to be difficult. :D

I think my wife and I must be the people the 'marketing folk' had in mind when they made the advert - the eagle one.

My wife saw the advert on the TV on the last Thursday in August. Told me that this was the next car we are looking for - I wanted a Lotus or a Morgan, she wanted something that was more Grand Tourer than 70's track car.

I watched the advert on the internet including the background information and was impressed. Over that weekend found out as much as possible about, the still to be launched in the UK, car. Phoned Fiat dealers on the Monday morning - 50% knew something, 40% knew nothing and 10% knew more than me. No car to test drive or even see in Wales / Southern England so had a test drive in a MX5 ND 2016.

That test drive confirmed all my research. For us, MX5 suspension too firm, engine and general noise was too much. But lots of plus points -size of car, visual impact once body was the 124 Spider, trim, hood, build quality for the price compaired to a Lotus or Morgan. So if the 124 spider was as the per the reports, then not only was it THE car but it would be 1/2 the price of the Lotus or Morgan.

Wednesday 31st August located a cancelled order Anniversary model due in on 5th September at the local dealer. Placed order over the phone subject to seeing the car. 10 am, 5th Sept went to see it arrive on the transporter, confirmed the sale and I collected it on 7th September. 12 days from seeing the Advert to driving one home! Never considered a Fiat before. Previous Alfa we owned was OK but fell apart, only had it for 5 years which is a short ownership for me. So FCA has a new customer based on the advert.

ps. I don't normally confirm to any marketing hype - I am a typical 'grumpy old man' but not the blue pill advert man!

I'll have to admit if there's one thing that will pull me away from the 124, it will be the MX-5 RF, unless of course the 124 gets it as well and in my opinion its the next best move to make. I believe at some point Fiat and Mazda should start doing their own things but this is the last shared thing I want...
