A better class of shopping car….

I’m always a bit reluctant to take a new car out for thesupermarket run. Here in the UK, Waitrose supermarkets are a good place to see some quite exotic machinery parked frighteningly close to someone who is likely to bash the side of your car with their door. My Lusso narrowly escaped being whacked at the weekend  when some numpty in a Qashqai flung his door open, fortunately I was backing-up at the time so do not have a scar. So today I was surprised to see a BMW i8 (albeit parked at the end of a row), and a newish Porsche Panamera and an Audi R8, all “just out doing the shopping”…… and I don’t even live in the posh end of central London.

I agree with you ItsyBitsy, however my wife parked her camaro out away from anyone and a shopping cart went flying down the hill right into the side of her car. So now, we both look for a nice curb or breaker for stuff like that. Even then, you have to watch the idiots pulling trailers because they will clip you.

Those truck guys aren't that bad when parking right next to you since they're much more conscious of not hitting anything compared to people that drive beat up cars and ding anything they possibly can. It's a bit of a trade off but i prefer the pick up guys.

Parking is an issue. I park as far out as possible and my Spider is a GINORMOUS truck magnet. EVERY. TIME. I come out of restaurant, grocery store, etc. THERE is that giant pick up truck with dual wheels and jacked up... Remember I live in Texas!
Maybe they're like you, just trying to find someone who won't fling their doors open.
Beaters are the stuff of nightmares. They're barely held together with duct take and you just know they have no qualms about dinging someone's door with theirs.

I saw a stencil on a car window just today. It read "I have kids, park close to my car and they WILL ding your doors."
For the first time in my life, I wanted to key a car. My mother taught me door safety at a early age.
