Mean sounding but in a good way. What you see is an Abarth 124 in the process of being loaded up into a storage trailer and we’re lucky that the driver felt like showing off while doing so.
The Euro-spec Abarth 124 Spider has the same engine as the 500 Abarth. Equipped with a Record Monza exhaust, it sounds as good as we’d hoped for and it lives up to the Abarth name. From start-up to a few revving moments in the parking lot, the video below will allow you to hear ever crackle and pop clearly. Compared to the standard 124 Spider model, the Abarth model sounds angrier with throatier notes while the standard exhaust sounds subdued.
Unfortunately, the U.S. spec Elaborazione Abarth won't be getting the Record Monza exhaust but because it still uses the same engine as the 500 Abarth with similar quad exhaust tips, you should hear a similar sound to the Euro spec version.
It'll still be a while before you can get your hands on a Abarth 124 Spider so until then, this video will have to tide you over.
