I know there is no current solution....but just in case someone has any ideas....how can we swap this Fiat emblem ?
Very simple, email Fiat and let them know how disappointed you are that the 500 has the Abarth emblem and not the Spider, Europe and Australia has it(I think)

When they get lots of dissatisfied email maybe they can send us one for free.

my seats don't have the Abarth written on it.

I did complain and the customer service of FCA called to say sorry we have no solution :-(. which means they are taking all NA Abarth fans for suckers !

Even if they change it in the new production, we will not get it as the whole airbag needs to be changed....I do not believe you can get only a cover change (still researching on this).

I hope to be able to buy a full unit from Europe or other country......if anyone willing to point me to a dealer in Europe or worldwide that would sell me the airbag with the proper emblem....let me now.
I maybe crazy, but not that crazy to spent all that money to get the whole airbag thing so the Emblem is Abarth, I think if they have an aluminum Abarth sticker like the other poster has done, I would go that way.

I thought the Fiat Emblem was just a sticker.

Is 53mm the right diameter, cause someone here had installed a badge 55mm or so. Anyway I sent the guy an email in Italian, maybe he might change his mind, and asked him the shipping cost to Canada and also the final price cause we do not pay the VAT 20%, So I am waiting for his reply.

Hefbadr :) ......I will not fall again for that one

that is what I measured to fit inside ...55mm is the actual opening.
So 53mm is too small.

The replied me and he doesn't ship to Canada. I like his badge looks like what's on the steering wheel, but 53mm that would be 3mm short, My only option is to buy it and have ship to this guy in Italy which I will seem in January on vacation.
Question is this size large enough.

I measured the badge on the steering wheel and it's 48mm and the out ring is 62mm
Next guy that does this project, can you take pictures of the steering wheel without the badge, the another of the back side of the badge and one with the new badge.

It looks like the Fiat badge is made of metal and is caved in the steering wheel. But pictures will clearify. tia

RBh58 ....want to sell your airbag ? :crying:

Ok, I ventured today and dismantled all the airbag hoping to remove the fiat emblem....will not post any pics due to liability. (I can answer any questions if you want).

the fiat emblem (and the Abarth in Europe) are made of a tin material with 7 bent tags that hold it in place. The baking, to hold the tin from bending in, is part of the cover and is plastic it is not flat. ie: the emblem is not sitting on a flat surface but slightly curved and it is not a stick on.

if you are trying to remove the emblem....you will not be able to unless you dismantle the whole airbag.

the airbag pops out by pushing on 3 locations with a small screw driver inside the 3 holes on the steering wheel.

So for NA, we either change the whole airbag ($1000) from Europe or put stick on or live with the UGLY Fiat emblem (sorry my opinion).

:(
So what's holding the emblem, you can post the inside of the emblem, no one will know it's a Fiat. LOL

If I picture right, the emblem sits on a ring hole. C'mon you could post pictures of where it's sitting and the underside of the emblem, it will not show it's a Fiat. Or make a knew Post under Unknown badge or something like that. :nerd:>:)

Thanks Nice Finding, So if you take a flat screw driver and force the sides eventually it will come out, even some little scratches, won't matter, cause the new replacement ones being slightly larger will cover it.

The one the Italian Ebay was selling is just slightly larger, but its the best I have seen quality wise.

See below solution. emblem sourced from a wheel center cap available from different sources/plastic/chrome sourround......as close as oem. diameter is less by 3 mm only. some surgery to the airbag plastic cover but not intrusive....all Fiat emblems removed :)
Canabarth, excellent, can you give us the ebay supplier, and also how did you go dismantling the steering whell. Was that difficult. tia

this is the ebay supplier from Italy...but there are many if you type abarth emblem wheel center cap. this will give you the steering wheel. you will need to peel the emblem from the plastic base that goes into the wheel....with a wire or other....simple process.

for the engine, bought the larger ones found in this thread and cut it down to fit the fiat logo area. They are aluminum and easily can be cut.

for the steering wheel, read my previous thread to remove the airbag, push on the three holes on the wheel...remove airbag....dismantle airbag (see video prior)....remove fiat emblem from the inside ....make modifications for new emblem to fit......reassemble all.
You bought 4 of them, you must have 3 left, I am interested in buying 1, let me know the cost, I am in town till Jan 24 before I leave south. I could pay you Paypal. If interest send me a message in my message box thanks

I just went to say farewell to the Abarth, and won't see her for 2 months:crying::crying:

I connected the battery tender and at the same time I measured the Steering wheel badge it what I figured it's about 48mm. So the 50mm should snug well, Unless the Abarth badge i smaller than 50mm. When I get back from the south I will order it.

I purchased a 2017 Abarth before the Toronto Auto show and was excited to go to the show to see the Abarth display and hopefully buy some small accessories (key chains, hats, shirts etc) boy was I wrong the Fiat display regarding 124 spider was so dissapointing (like they did not care) and I agree whoever set it up should be fired!!!!
So far here in Quebec, I haven't seen a tv commercial and even sales on newspapers. While the MX5 sales Jan and Feb are going well the Spider bearly sold under 100 of them.

Thanks for the link. Sent an email to the seller asking about shipping to the US.
53 is the right fitting. I told the guy to give us good shipping rates cause of the demand, the Abarth steering wheel comes with the Fiat Badge. For that price you get 2 badges. You could sell to someone else the other one and save some costs.

How would we go about installing this? I currently have the 56mm sticker from Ebay and it sort of just sticks overtop of the Fiat badge. How is this any different?
Check CANABARTH post page 7 he did it.
some details were given Also there's some youtube video show how to dismantle the airbag.

Is the eBay link you posted a sticker or the actual emblem?
You maybe right, I did not read right the details, but it's a sticker applicable straight on the steering wheel. Now if the sticker is identical to the abarth, it could be an easier solution. If we had better clearer pictures it would be nice.
maybe CANABARTH can add his views.

I have emailed a couple of those Italian ebay sellers and after a day, they did not reply yet. These Italians have long weekends. LOL

Hello, i have approached this vendor twice, but he would not budge to ship to NA, plus it is a flat sticker....will not work. After a few weeks now driving with the set up and in broad day light, i am pretty happy (90%) with the result only because i know how the OEM looks. Still thinking of buying a european airbag for the emblem though. will post more pics this weekend with the roof down.

I think I will put this project on ice for now till someone starts selling this badge. I willing to wait a year or so. I emailed the Abarth UK, if they sell this piece alone. waiting for an answer.. Thanks CANABARTH

CANABA, I know you changed the badge on your FOB with the 14mm Abarth badge. When you removed the badge from the FOB, did you heat it up and removed it or you had to open it what ever. Can you let me know how you went about. tia
