We were in Auburn Hills, MI.... and yes the officer was very gracious.

I suspect the paperwork involved booking couple guys named Ramzi and Csaba from Texas driving w/o registration 20mph over was not worth the headache.

Auburn Hills police driving a Ford? Don't they know who pays taxes there? You won't see any Dodge police cars in Dearborn.

Plastic tabs

Ameridan hi. I liked your project so much I immediately signed up for Ponoko and got a clear acrylic shelf cut. I guess I messed up in the inches to mm conversion because I was going for the thinner plastic sandwich idea, but it seems that what i got is too thick to fit the slots in the back of the cubby. (In other words I think my shelf is like the one you made.) So my question is: did you thin down the tabs from the top side of the shelf or the bottom? As the tabs are offset I figure it mattters, no? Or does the relative position of tabs to shelf not matter? Thanks again for posting--nice improvement and a safe first "mod" for me.

The tabs can not be thicker than .125″, so if you choose .250″ material as I did, you’ll need to remove the top half of the tabs that are included in one of the cutouts, down to .125″.
Another reader PM'd me yesterday, stating that his thinner material needed trimming as well. The designer clearly states "no need to file down tabs if you make it with 2.7mm bamboo or acrylic" That works out to 0.106299" I may have to tweak my description some. Is that the material you ordered?

I did the lighting installation from this thread, and it's fantastic. Motion sensors are excellent.

It just looks a little strange until the glove box light turns off.
