I have the Luxury package equipped with the alarm system. After arming per the manual and letting someone else walk well away from the car with the fob I cannot set the alarm off when attempting to gain entrance or tampering with her. Any ideas. Thanks
I don't think it goes off just by touching it. I'm sure if you open the door or trunk the horn will start honking. Probably if it is raised to tow also. There is no motion detector inside.
From Mazda: horn sounds intermittently and the hazard warning lights flash for about 30 seconds when the system is triggered by any one of the following:
Unlocking a door with the key, door lock switch, or an inside door-lock knob.
Forcing open a door, the hood or the liftgate/trunk lid.
Opening the hood by operating the hood release handle.
Switching the ignition ON without using the push button start
There are some options that you set through the infotainment system. If you haven't already, check your manual and follow the instructions. I set mine to arm when I walk away with the fob and I can hear the beeps as it does. A couple times after I've left the car (such as at a gas station) with my wife still inside, and then she opens the door, the alarm has sounded.
