I'd really like to buy one of these systems, but not until they've been customised for the Abarth.

I've invested a lot into my car and refuse to have it look jerry-built by fitting up parts that are really designed for other models.

There mightn't be much of a difference between the Fiat and Abarth variants, but there is a difference...

Hey Brian - is Chris Gough going to be the Aussie distributor for Abarth parts from you?

For any Aussies that don't already know, Chris has MX5Parts.com.au and is a ripper bloke with a lot of MX5 knowledge and experience.

For the rest of us, is a "ripper bloke" a good person, or not?

The difference is about an inch more gap in the cutout, but fortunately center of cutout is the same so systems made for both will center up nicely in both. Our Quad shown on Abarth version below, I think it looks great and fortunately most agree as we are getting good feedback from plenty of Abarth owners. Indeed we could go even bigger on tips for Abarth version to make it more of a 'stuffed' look there but that would be 2.75 or 3 inch tips. Might do it at some point but then we are getting into the size range the current Corvette uses back there for a motor that is more than four times bigger, seemed a bit excessive or even silly to us during the design phase when I held tips that big in the cutouts to see the look of it, but I will look at it again as time permits.

So, at least for first batch we made the same decision that Fiat did with Record Monza optional exhaust. Pic below is Fiat's own optional Record Monza, notice same tip sizes, notice same tight spacing placement as ours....so that it fits both versions of the car.

Yes, been working with Chris as our Aussie dealer for many years and they are planning to get a few of our setups down there in the next sea container shipment.

I think we've very different understandings of "centred"...

I just measured up mine, they're 2.75" from the factory.

UPDATE GUYS,

Muffler deletes fit manual and automatic....but Crosspipe/midpipe fits ONLY Manual Transmission.
Is there any chance that those will be available for the AT in the future?

I dont think I ever shared this pic but heres the stock abarth exhaust and the quad muffler delete for anyone curious on the size difference.

Untitled by Carlos Figueroa, on Flickr
was the Goodwin muffler centered over the stock muffler in the pic? As with motopete's concern, wondering if the Goodwin tips end up centered or further out than stock.

Just a note...that side of the Goodwin system is on a slip joint and can be adjusted. So unless it was pushed all the way in that picture can be deceiving. There may be some more adjustment to center it up. This is just about the picture you are looking at.

Another Abarth/Goodwin vid. This car sounds quite tame compared to the silver Abarth vid.

Yep, car in the other video in garage area with walls for sound reflection....makes the experience more intense, like driving full throttle under an overpass.

You can see from the pictures and videos of the two Portogallo 1974 Grey cars that they end up further out than stock, which combined with the smaller than stock tips doesn't fill the space as well.

Yeah, if we can borrow an ABARTH in the Los Angeles region I will do up a new version just for Abarth versions with 3 inch tips and post pics for you guys to tell us if you like it. And if you did like it, I would trade any Abarth owners to that version if they wanted it, that version would be far too large to fit the smaller cutout of non-Abarth versions. Ideally need to borrow an Automatic Abarth so we can get the Crosspipe redone in version that fits automatic. If anyone in Los Angeles region can help us out with a loaner you get the full setup for FREE! I have checked the rental companies but no luck there that I have found and I would sure love to get on this next stage of development this next week if we can.
