Anyone Plan on a v8 Build ?

I was just looking at the Flyin Miata V8 swap, and it just got me thinking all over again. Is anyone planning on going with a v8 route? Or even something that'll produce big power for a drag build or whatever? I mean... just listen to this :)

No...but that is an impressive bit of engineering.
Flyin Miata's ND LS3 build was featured in one of my car mags last month. Funny, there was a photo taken of their shop with a 124 in the background, like a lady in waiting. I was reading that the LS3 is rather light, enabling them to use it without throwing off the 50/50 weight ratio too much. It's a bulletproof engine, which I had in my Corvette. That being said, I feel done with such wickedness and feel happy to putz around town in my little turbocharged 124 four-cylinder.
Some will do it.

But, but, but...Gentlemen Only Drive V-8's!;)

You've obviously never visited Australia where mostly *bogans drive them.

*Bogan - The term bogan (/ˈboʊɡən/) is a derogatory Australian and New Zealand slang word used to describe a person whose speech, clothing, attitude and behaviour exemplify values and behaviour considered unrefined or unsophisticated.

Analogous to the UK "Chav"

Indeed. I was really amused when I was in the UAE to find that they rebadge their Chevy Luminas (which are of course rebadged Holden Commodores) with Holden badges. Seriously! I saw several of them. The irony broke me up.
I don't plan to do a V8 conversion. However I do appreciate the engineering and performance potential of a well done V8 swap. That said, it's just no my cup of tea, I would rather have the stock engine built to have more power.

Well... I just learned what a Bogan is LOL can bet I'll be using this at some point. Knew this thread would be perfect, learning something new everyday ;)
Wouldn't do it on a brand new 124 Spider, but maybe someone will make the swap a few years down the road when their Spider isn't as new anymore. Seems like such a waste to do that now.

LOL, the post would read, "Does installation of a Corvette engine in my 124 void my warranty?"

Just on the engine...LOL...:D
Funny, but I had thoughts of doing something with a Buick 215 V8 (I think Landrover took that design over in the later years). But obviously many many .... MANY.... years down the road. Sure would be a drastic undertaking compared to the open fender hot rods I'm used to, though.

Wouldn’t be much Fiat left after that, but yes - I want it.
I would like to see the quadrifolio V6 put into a 124.>:)
It still needs an Italian Heart!

An LS with a T56 in a Spider would definitely draw a crowd at a Cars and Coffee event, even more so than a "plain" Spider Abarth, lol! I had a 2000 GMC Sonoma with a fuel-injected LT1, built to LT4 specs, with a T56 transmission, and that truck was crazy fast. I can only imagine what a similar setup in an A124 would be like! Come on, someone in here has to do it, with a build thread!
We should do it as a community project - we all chip in to buy a Classica and the $50K for the conversion - then, we all get time-share allocations of the car. I'm pretty handy for Flyin Miata in Grand Junction, so I'd volunteer to keep it at my place because I'm nice like that...
