I've read that ND Miatas had a switchover between 2017 and 2018 on different models, switching from an overdamped shock on earlier models that paired better with lowering springs, to a softer one better suited for their stock springs.

What about Abarth models? I've always heard our factory shocks are overdamped, but did they also make the same switch as the ND Miatas or are all 2017 through 2020 factory Bilstein shocks fitted to the Abarth Spider the same?

Same brand, but they differ in specs. I know Abarth not the same as Classica or Lusso.
I think 2017 to 2020 Abarth shocks are all same specs.

The Bilsteins on the ND side were re-valved when the 2017 RF came out. The soft tops got the revalved ones in 2018, I believe. Since Fiat has not updated anything on the car since 2017, I VERY highly doubt that the Bilsteins are any different between years.
