Miata ND MT is a crap shoot. There Are serious and well documented issues with the Manual Trans, second gear in particular. My question is for those who want the manual ensure its not the Mazda's version. Also some fraying and broken straps on the rag top.

I am an AT paddle guy. I like to eat drink and drive....so I want my right hand free.

The 124 uses the NC's manual transmission (with modified gearing), so any problems with it should have long since been sorted out. The ND's manual could not handle the torque of the Fiat engine, reportedly.

The trans used by Fiat is much more robust than the trans used in the ND. It's a version of the trans used in Mazda trucks.

Hey, good to see another King Crimson fan. I saw them perform live with the Stones in Hyde Park, London, in 1969. And if I say "Joni Mitchell" you'll know what colour my Spider is.

Not to make excuses for Mazda, but the transmissions seem to have stopped breaking. And the Fiat box is very robust - not likely to fail.
