For UK Members......I commented earlier about buying a set of 17" alloys from fellow member Graham Robinson of Aberdeen who advised me that "Paisley Freight" (alloy & Bike/pram specialists) were his favorite couriers, today I sold my 16" alloys and booked through Paisley Freight to send them from Cornwall to Hull, the service and price is great.
Worth noting them down lads......... Cheers

Thought I had completed this thread.......silly me ! Been a car enthusiast since 11 years of age when I saw my first BRG MGB, before really as Dad had old Fords and was a ex Paratrooper turned Trucker. Anyway...
Frankmar & Apexoversteer are responsible for this, and yes Arthur started it again by talking dirty about blankets and heat. Turbo blankets, DIY, PTP or SILA, now the Jury is out on that one, Arthur has completed his (first here) DIY Turbo blanket (here under Turbo Blanket sourcing UK), Apex just fitted and done a 100 mile run with a very slight smell of "Moon Rock" I understand on his PTP blanket (P134 What did you do section), whilst I await my SILA Titanium from Madness Autoworks..............Today's saga was "Frank" he ordered a really cool Real Carbon Gear Knob, I wanted one!
Nobody in the US of A or Canada interesting in posting so...ebay UK from China/Taiwan Ryanstar part RS-SK002-CA but then I thought, "What about a label as I am stupid so won't know what gear I am in and can't read the dash telling me, so enter "Apex", same article...he bought a gear plate Toyota/Lexus part 33621-53030 so I wanted one of them too, spoilt or what ! Googled it and up come "NENGUN" of Japan who took my order and were very good, all confirmed at £11.36 for TWO including air package delivery.
Will report back once SILA, Ryanstar and "Apex Plate" have reported in for duty......Cheers

I suppose Japan Post is still shipping to Jolly Old?

Japan Post is not shipping ANYTHING to the colonies... I've had stuff sitting in various Japanese post offices, waiting to get on flights, for over a month now... seriously, I've got 4 different shipments from four different places, sitting in four different post offices... and Japan Post tells me it might be 16 weeks before anything ships to the US, via Japan Post. They suspended even accepting new shipments to the US about 10 days ago. I tried switching to DHL, for any shipments going forward, but DHL doesn't seem to be able to get anything out to me any faster. I'm at a bit of a loss on how to get anything out of Japan at the moment. I can't even get my shipments released back to the vendors, Japan Post won't release them once they have placed them in the que to ship.

I'd say send them here first but alas........We are banned also Grasshopper.........from sending / receiving to / from many in the USA and Customs are known to strike in the same place twice, Confucius says,,,"Spring or Autumn" Master.

What's a "Gear Plate" ?
Sorry Arthur mate, being lazy there lad.....the little gear indicator label thing that "Apex" found by hard searching, kindly supplied the part number and I ordered up two from Nengen of Japan. You though informed us all that you already had your knob labelled so we left you in peace...lets not go there again, eh! Cheers

Thanks for that...... I was hoping it was a metal gate shifter plate a la Ferrari "H" gate.... looks much cooler that the leather gaiters we all have these days. We can only dream !!!! View attachment 76168
I'd love one of these. Been looking in vain on and off for some time. I think it would complete the retro Italian look.

If only I could get rid of the info screen growing out of the dash, but not the functionality of course, although I only use traffic alerts.

As you know from having just made your own "Arthur Turbo Blanket"...anything is possible, so...why not template, then get a machine shop to cut, drill and polish some stainless steel. Removing the center channel is not difficult, then you could shape a rubber seal and place it in position "before altering the center channel in any way? During my search for the gear label plate I did come across various gear plates,as you describe them, but didn't pay too much attention to them as I wasn't considering the Mod you are proposing. Just an idea, without cocking up existing set up....Cheers

I think I'll wait until one of the Mazda guys attemps it..... they definitely got more money than sense !!!!
Or....."Apex", he sniffed out the label gear plate things in the first place....so here's a tip......speak to him nicely, get him excited about the idea, mention you saw one in "Star Wars" once or something, then....he will be on a mission to the galaxy and beyond, locate the exact right one for your Spider.tell you about it through these pages and there you go..."Sorted". But don't tell him we set him up will you.our secret ! Cheers

Arthur's fault.......He started talking about induction kits and difficulties finding them in the UK, Folk jumped in with suggestions, (most not rude) and I made the mistake of paying attention to the discussion, so now.......I am wondering...
Eurocompulsion V1- Basic better breathing, retains original system. V2- Some power increase, much better breathing and induction sounds, V4- The Dogs, used with Phase 2 tune, or, Madness Autoworks working alongside BMC Air Filters to produce a really good looking, more expensive, that breaths and sounds and adds a little extra umph...but what do our resident experts, who have fitted and run each system think.....My Spider is set up nicely, I drive "Spirited" through the twisties though never balls out and enjoy caring for my engine unit, without feeling any need for a great power band. Lightweight vehicle, Turbo DV+, with balanced suspension, tyre set up,ECB yellow stuff and a Goodwin exhaust system. Have read some Professional reviews...inconclusive, both good systems, so Boys.......who prefers what and why, problems with fitting (rubbing) and wear since...............Just to remind you.....

No one could convince me that sucking warm air from the engine bay is ever better than cold intake. V1,v4 or BMC all the way.

That's what I want to hear...reasons why and recommendations of. Awaiting input from Greg in Arthurs thread but at present was thinking V2 or BMC, now thinking BMC as V4 appears to be much more relevant to folk like yourself who want to explore the deeper power bands, whereas, the BMC appears to do the job efficiently, has a BIG filter unit and looks good to boot...... Cheers Boddle Lad, anybody else want to chip in and say why I am wrong, discuss the point Boddle highlights or just state what they would now with my very minimal requirement of looking after my unit with the best possible assistance to better breathing i can, without overdoing it. Never a fan of huge wings or oversized exhaust pipes that are actually anything other than efficient..........Cheers Now

Coming up for 8pm so NHS clapping time...........Quick Update, no response from Greg as yet in Arthurs thread, nobody contributed to this since request earlier....Boddle gave a good recommendation earlier between V4 and BMC products, so.....having compared again between just these two .....I have ordered up. Will update when the kit arrives and is fitted, Cheers

Ron, you got your blanket yet ?
Not yet Mate.....ordered up 22/04/20, it was only allowed out to play from the USA 06/05/20 for some reason so I am expecting it any time now. When I ordered the Performance coil packs last November so pre Covid-19 it was about 2 weeks start to finish. The Gear knob ordered from China 06/05/20 only left China 13/05/20 and the Apex Gear labels...ordered 06/05/20 left Japan (air package) 11/05/20.
Whilst you are here Arthur....I was thinking (steady!)....with Turbo blanket working to hold in turbo heat correctly and with a proper induction kit sucking in a large amount of air...What do you know about Wastegate Actuator function ?
I know it's basically a by-pass valve all about the spring and diaphragm, spring holding it shut until boost pressure reaches a set level, then opens to allow gasses to escape and reduce boost pressure.
I have read about signs of wear being..engine light, turbo not boosting during acceleration or ossillating boost and fuel efficiency dramatic fall, but....with the above Mods..more air/more retained heat is that spring going to cope if the system is working better so "maybe" producing more boost ? or...should the by-pass valve be opening earlier?
Not sure if I am talking through my backside here Mate...it was just a thought. Cheers

I don't know too much about the wastegate actuator....... I'll probably get round to educating myself sometime. What I do know is that whilst my car is running well and still under warranty until March 2021 I won't be changing much else. Maybe just the air intake, but am happy with my K&N and factory airbox so just the EC V1, although SILA do something similar......
