A camouflaged prototype of the 124 Spider was recently filmed testing on an Italian highway. It was already spotted last year so we already know what the covered prototype looks like and can easily identify the Abarth 124 in the YouTube video.
If you take a close look at the vehicle's rear, you should be able to make out four exhaust outlets, similar to that of the spied photos.
What's interesting is the very prominent bulge on the bonnet that the camouflage has failed to hide. It could be hiding an intake vent of some kind, the very first of its kind on a Fiat Spider. If additional cooling is needed, we may see a powerfully tuned engine under that hood. Possibly Fiat's 1.4-liter turbo which may be tuned by Scorpion to produce around 200 horsepower.
The Abarth 124’s reveal is speculated to take place near the end of this year or early 2017 and it probably won’t be on sale until later on in 2017.
