You may want to check out this thread about the risk of ditching those springs. Brian Goodwin made a great point in comment 51.

Exhaust Cross Pipe
Unfortunately I have no way to hook the system up with the spring connectors or it will leak. We have tried and modify the parts fairly extensively to give more play but it is just impossible to get a proper connection. I talked to Brian about something being off but he swears up and down that is impossible. Worse case scenario if it starts leaking I just tighten it up again or get a new gasket I suppose. Also when I sent Brian pictures of my setup without the springs he never emailed me back saying anything negative about it, like he does there in the EC thread.. Would have been nice to know when I sent him pictures of my setup lol. But unfortunately I don't really have a choice but to run it like this..

Well I just finally got the car off the lift and put my wheels on and took it around the block and on the highway a few times to make sure nothing was going to fall apart :p Its only 30F here right now all week though so I didn't drive it around too much. I need to burn out the full tank of gas in her and then get her stage 1 tuned till I can put on my intercooler and go stage 3.

Wheel pics. I think the wheels look really great!

Haven't updated in a while but I got my coilovers installed and finally tuned the car to stage 1 big turbo tune, runs great! Whenever I get time to finally put on the intercooler I'll move to phase 3. I also updated the very first post with pictures I took today of the car lowered, go check them out :)

Updating this thread... WOW almost a year later. Sadly this is about as far as I got with the car for the moment as other stuff in life took over and I've just been a bit burnt out with everything. However I've kinda came to some point of calm in the storm and I am working back on the car again, the project continues. Looks like unfortunately this forum has slowed way in the last two years since I started my build, but if nothing else this spider will continue to live on, mostly because I have no real desire to own any other car at this point. Also the spider was never a car I thought I'd own nor would I do this extensive of a street/show build on, but here we are. My true loves are 90's JDM cars but I've owned 15 different ones over the years, but that passion kind of burned out with my last FD when due to age and just an abused car stuff was breaking more often than I was driving and when I already don't have the greatest energy to tackle stuff its just a real mood killer.

Anyways thats why this build goes on! The spider ended up growing on me so much even though I haven't nearly given it as much time and dedication as I would have in my younger years, my passion to do a kick ass build is still there at the end of the day. And I am lucky to do it with such a unique platform, 2 years since the first day I got it and I still have people asking me what the heck kind of car is that!!! the rare times I drive it around. When my build is done its going to be even more of a head turner than it is now :)

Got alot of parts on order and still working on some lists, I'll have to update my first post to keep my build updated, but working on exterior and interior mods now and have a bunch of goodies from Japan on the way as well as some good ol domestic parts :) For anyone curious I am going for late 90's/early 2000 street racer vibes. I'll attach a few of my old builds for reference

So lots of updates to come and I hope I can recatch some of the old vibes with the build im going for... Stay tuned. Its gonna be an adventure doing it on a 124. I'm also gonna start posting my build updates again on my IG @kawaii.beats if you want to follow me there feel free

Wow that’s a beautiful FC3S! I owned a black 87 turbo, best car I have ever owned and kind of the one that got away. Love seeing the true JDM vibe transfer to this car. I feel this car totally fits that vibe. I’m planning on the three hundred kit from Japan if it’s still around when I finish paying my Abarth off. Not a fan of kits but that one is really nice. Thanks for continuing your build here and sharing your past projects.

Damn that kit looks better than I thought! How much did it cost shipped and costumed state side? Also why did you go with the carbon Miata side skirts over the three hundred ones? Just curious, plus I can’t really tell from the three hundred website what theirs look like. Thanks for the inspiration keep it up!

Hey thanks for the posts! I love FC's too and I really would have loved to buy one again and build it but I'm done with 30 year old cars... The three hundred kit shipped from nengun is around ~7k and another $180 in custom fees from DHL. Yeah its pricey and nengun really screws you over on the shipping, cost of using them I suppose but it was very painless other than a blip at DHL of getting held up in customs and them not contacting me but I got it all sorted out by calling, their customer service is much better on phone than email.

As for the side skirts, they are the three hundred, by carbon miata side sils I mean the door sils in the interior, my bad :)
Heres some pics I took of the kit off the car, the quality of the kit is really excellent, probably why it costs so much. Some of the nicest CF pieces I have had the pleasure to work with.

Any plants on doing the CF duckbill with all that? I feel it would fit right in and really complete the look.
Im poverty mode though and cant do the three hundred stuff so im going about an alternative way… we’ll see how that works out… but the CF duckbill is still on my list.

No because I bought the one from madness before and was unhappy with how it fit, pretty big gaps around the edge and their suggestion was to fill it in with black caulking, not acceptable for a part that is stated to fit precisely on your spider and costs $700 when I have bought cheap knock offs of basically the same thing in the $150-200 for other cars from china that fit almost perfectly.

I've already got an APR wing to put on it just waiting to install it. Been too busy and hot here.

Shitty. I dont really want to get the fiberglass one though and dip it, probably look terrible and extra fake… so i’d have to paint it then… and i haven't considered that so… i gotta think on it. I wonder is Evolved’s one fit crappy too though, i dont recall watching anything that discussed fitment about it though, have to look.

As far as the fiberglass madness wing, why not get that sand it down to fit properly and wrap it with that 7d carbon wrap @TX_Bandit found. If memory serves, that stuff looked legit. Could save you big$$ and also get you better fitment. Of course you would have to be confident with a pen and sander or file, and please make sure to wear a plastic apron, gloves, long sleeves, safety googles, and a mask. Fiberglass is nasty stuff and itches. Oh if you do this please post results, in my mind it would look great!

Damn those Three Hundred parts look amazing (and i'm not just saying that because I have the pre-orders open here) LOL I genuinely just came across this thread randomly and was awesome seeing another 124 with Three Hundred parts on it.

All my parts should be going on next month....wide body, cf front lip, rear diffuser, side skirts, duckbill, and other little touches. I can't wait to get them on. Seeing it on yours is making me even more impatient now 😂

Yeah its a pretty penny but it is 100% worth it if you plan on keeping your spider, no other kit comes close to it at all. I got mine from Nengun but I'm sure your pre-order stuff is probably a decent amount cheaper, wish it was around when I bought my parts LOL.

Unfortunately, being a pioneer is expensive. That was my mustang in 2010 when the 5.0’s first returned, started the bagged and blown trend for a couple years.
