Is there an extended warranty that can be purchased from Fiat that extends the 4/50 to something longer bumper to bumper? If so, anyone know $$ ?

yep...the dealer I bought my 124 from quoted me lifetime warranty for $4000 (transferable)...i said NO... then knocked it down to $3500. Still said NO...although a great selling point if you ever sold your car. (Fiat deal in San Diego)

Keep your money in the bank, statistics say you'll be way ahead of the game. It's a scam...and like casinos, the deck is stacked in their favor.

Well you guys in the US you get cheap extended warranty. When I put my deposit the dealer want to sell me an bumper to bumper extended warranty that was covering 7 years/140000km for a ridiculous 4900$ !

I got 7yr/115.000km bumper to bumper with 24/7 roadside assistance across North America for 2700$. They threw in the rustproofing and lifetime warranty on body corrosion (rust) with it, wheel locks (which they forgot to put on the car and I have to pick up later today) and no charge 2yr road hazard warranty on the tyres.

I know it's made in Japan and it should be more reliable than the 500s (hopefully!) but I'll sleep better knowing that the only things I'll pay for on the car in the next 7 years are maintenance and not unexpected repairs.

Same with mine I finally got my lock nuts 1 month after delivery. I bought nothing (no insurance / extended warranty) but had the "Roulez à vie" dealer promo, free oil change, brake pads and tire replacement for lifetime ownership.

BTW welcome to the forum I notice you are from Montreal. You're the third one from Quebec. There's also Frankmar from Montreal on the board.

i would double check on the transfer ability of the lifetime warranty. I have the lifetime max care warranty and it is listed as not being transferable. Most of their other plans like the 7year/100k mile warranty are but not the lifetime. If someone tells you it is make them put that in writing.

I was offered the lifetime unlimited for 2600.00 and some change. I took it. I plan on keeping the 124 until they pry the keys from my cold dead hands ....... I really love this car.

My daily driver is a 2008 Lexus is250, it also has an extended warranty and it payed for itself 4 times over. With a full Engine replacement (yes full replacement block, pistons cam, covers and all, as well as all of the little bits ) oh yeah it also covered my infotainment system replacement. That alone was almost 5G by itself.

Lolita is still running strong With 87,400 ish miles on her.

Do you actually have a 500?

I have 2 of them, a 2012 500 and a 2014 500L. They have been nothing but reliable. I read all the time how unreliable my 500s are, but that has not been my experience at all.

It's just "Fix It Again Tony" confirmation bias... and a load of horse manure!

I can only hope that my 124 is as reliable as my 500s have been!

No I have not.

I'm considering getting one for my daughter after the Subaru's engine inevitably blows the head gasket - I'm not paying 1200$ to fix a car that is worth 1500$...

I too think it's been blown out of proportion, lots of the issues "per car" reported are slight trinkets like for example when my 124 was delivered it had (still does) a "divot" on the front end (see picture.) I didn't report it yet as it's obvious it's from before the car was painted as the paint wasn't scratched, looks like it was painted over.

Is it a warranty defect? Yes.

Does it prevent the car from running perfectly, driving beautifully, and putting a smile on my face? **** no.

If you don't look directly at it I'm 99% sure nobody will notice it. Same goes for the FIAT logo on the steering wheel, it's not PERFECTLY centered, instead it's slightly pushed towards the bottom. Do I even care? No. I love the 124 and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a roadster to smile by, if I weren't so happy to be the only one in 100km2 (or more!) to have one. Love that exclusivity, love the looks. Took some getting used to but I love the attention it draws.

I've had three Fiats now.

My first was a '91 Fiat Uno - I was 17 at the time. Drove it like I stole it. Zero problems.

My second was a '97 Punto. First car I ever bought new. Zero problems that could be blamed on Fiat.

Third is the 124. Other than the air con needing recharged on delivery, zero problems.

In fact, the only cars I've ever owned that have let me down in a big way have been Land Rovers, Volkswagens and a Toyota.

That "divot" would bug the heck out of me... I would certainly be looking to get it fixed. As for the Fiat Logo... I wish mine didn't have one at all!
