Belgian website Autofans.be has reported the Fiat 124 Spider will make its global debut at the Los Angeles motor show on November 17.

The news, accompanied by this speculative rendering, follows reports by US website Edmunds.com earlier this week that the all-new Mazda MX-5-based Italian roadster will be shown for the first time at either the Frankfurt show in September or the LA show two months later.

Well obviously I am hoping for the earlier reveal. Considering that it is a rebadged version of another vehicle I would expect that development time shouldn't be as much. They should be able to have it ready by September. Here's hoping.

If a concept at the very least is not shown by the Los Angeles Auto Show, someone at Fiat needs to be fired. The Miata's lead over the 124 would be ridiculous for what are supposed to be two very similar cars.

Depends, FIAT is playing cat and mouse with new model launches in order to defer CapEx. Granted the 124 project doesn't require CapEx, just payments to Mazda...

Over at Fiat (the brand), it will be a huge year, with a new A-segment car and compact pickup in Latin America, the Ottimo Cross in Asia-Pacific, a new compact sedan (“Fiat Aegean” based) and a new specialty car in Europe/Middle East/Africa. Fiat also launched the 500X in Europe and has already sold some in the United States, and is scheduled to a “specialty car” (most likely the Fiat Miata) in the US at the end of the calendar year. A new Doblo is out there in the van realm.
