Sounds strange since the two are kin, even stranger one is still months away from reveal and even further from dealer floors. What makes this comparison interesting is positioning and product.

The Miata certainly has its fans stateside as evidenced by the droves who race them amateurly across the country each weekend, but it also has an image problem with American buys. It lacks horsepower. FIAT may have an interesting opportunity to steal the market away from Mazda.

Car and Driver actually speculates that North America may not see anything less then an Abarth badged model.

FIATS real opportunity lay in styling and speed. Most of the internet isn't the biggest fan of the new Miata styling so lets see how FIAT doess at adapting Mazdas design language into their own.

I didn't realize the internet was hating on the Miata styling. Mazda must be doing a good job of marketing and advertising because i was hearing what they wanted me to about the reception.

This 124 render is great though. I like the grille and the hips/beltline.

Where are you reading? Car and Driver, MotorTrend, Autoblog? Thats not who I'm talking about. I'm talking about the people who may or may not actually spend money on one, and the sentiment seems to be most people aren't crazy about its looks. I think there's going to be more then a few people holding off to see the 124 as a result...

Especially when this is the same company that just developed the stunning Alfa Romeo 4C. I hope some of those stylists were working on the new 124.
