Fog lite indicator?

3074 Views 8 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  nozzam
New owner of Lusso Spider. Noticed that when I turn on the fog lights there is no dash light indicating that they are on. The manual states there should be but none seen. Anyone else have an indicator light? And yes, the fog lites are working. Thanks guys.

I do not know of a light on the dash... in fact my mazda 6 has the same setup, and no light.
The only indicator I know of that shows the fog light is on is the steering wheel control being set to on...
On my UK Abarth 124 Spider I get an indication of the fog lights on the dashboard.

No indicator, just checked. Also, the fogs won't work in the daytime if you have the headlights set to Auto. You have to turn the lights on manually in order to get fog lights during the day. Of course I had to figure this out by jumping in and out of the car several times, lol, as there is no fog light indicator on the dash.
Fog lights off... fog lights on...

Australian delivered Abarth.
There really no point in having fog lights on during the day. The purpose is to provide more low level light in fog at night to prevent reflected light from limiting your view at night as it would with your bright lights. My bmws would switch them off whenever I used brights and vice versa. During the day the only advantage might be for someone to see you, but that's what the daytime running lights are for and those are always on.
For the US models, there are different lights in some of the locations.
The left light is for headlights on or off. And matches the pictures posted earlier. However the other two places seem to have different indicator lights

If you download the owners manual, I can tell you that the middle light is the "loose fuel filler cap indicator light". See page 101.
I couldnt figure out if there is a light in the third postion from the left. Where you show the fog light. I can confirm however it is a no-op on my car.
The manual on page 41 says that there should be a light on the instrument panel. However it does not light up on my lusso.

As indicated in my earlier post, my Mazda 6 also does not have a fog indicator light. Same behavior.

i don't know if it is the same in every state but in Pennsylvania the fog lights must have a relay that shuts then off when high beam headlights are on. I have always used headlights w/ fog lights during daytime with the logic that maybe someone would see me that might not have. My previous car and this one with auto headlights i just trust that the daytime running lights will be enough.
How many rear fog lights - Fiat Lusso 124 UK

Hello - how many rear fog lights does the Lusso have - the dealer guy came round to look as I thought one out of the two wasn't working and he said one is a fog light and the other just a reflector?? Is that right?
