Found a fender dent today

Found a nice dent on my front passenger fender yesterday from what looks like a car door, just wanted to share the repair cost as an incentive for everyone to not crash. There was no paint cracking, there was some transfer from the other car. I attached a picture, let me know if shows up too small.

Started with a paintless dent repair guy. Because our fenders are aluminum, he quoted me $450 and said he couldn't guarantee it would look perfect.

The best body shop in my region quoted me $660. They had to write the quote as a Miata because the 124's not even in their system yet.

Getting one more quote in the morning, but I'm not optimistic, and I know it would be done right for $660.

Pretty frustrating!

 Nothing irritates me more than this kind of damage. People have no respect for other people's property. That looks like a regular body shop repair to me since it's on the crease. Sorry to see this.

Ouch. Rotten thing to happen to your new baby. That location would be a tough one even if the fenders were made of steel. I've become vigilant about defensive parking over the years. I figure that if I can walk 30 minutes a day on my garage treadmill, I can certainly park the furthest distance possible from the stores I'm visiting. From what I've seen it's the little kids who fly their car doors open, sometimes using their feet for propulsion, lol.

Oh man, we feel your pain!! I even place a thin piece of styrofoam (3' x 3') slid under my passenger wiper blade, while parked in my own garage, in the event of my wife's Toyota Highlander's door swinging out that one time much to far.
oooh, that is a nasty one. it so sucks no matter how careful you are you can't be careful for others
At least none of the factory paint was removed, that may have been a pain to fix and match. Stinks that it happened, but there's not much to do besides defensive parking and if you don't mind the looks, those beefy door guards.

That and even people who walk inbetween vehicles and let their bags scrape along it, i've seen that happen too many time and ever since always park far out unless I have a vehicle I don't care about.

Getting a full clear vinyl wrap done would be great but that costs a lot.

Haha I know exactly when and where it happened for that exact reason, despite not finding it till 3 days later. It was the only spot left in a tiny lot with no other options. Already went back to see if there were cameras, no dice.

Appreciate everyones sympathy, I'm going with the best shop in town and moving on. Waste of time to let myself get too bothered by something like this.

so far the only place that I drive my spider is to visit my dad where its safe in his driveway. I dont trust people enough to park it in a parking lot. Sorry to see some A-hole did that to your baby. I hope it gets fixed soon.
