BBR just released an initial tune for the ND Miata. Looks like +30 hp from intake, exhaust, and ECU upgrade. And the ND Miata is not even forced induction (FI)! These are impressive gains for a naturally aspirated motor.

For the FI motor in the 124, we should be able to achieve 200 hp at the wheels after similar mods, right?

Hi IstyBitsy,

As one of the people who worked on development of that tune I can tell you exactly what accompanying changes were. The only other mod used in testing was an upgraded intake, and a different rear exhaust, which didn't add anything, it just has tips that look good.

When do you think it will be available for the 124
We just released Euro+Drive light for various cars. It's not released yet for the 124, but it IS on my car right now and testing is going well. I'm not promising anything, but I think you will see it out within a week. It's been in beta testing for the last few months on these engines in other cars so we don't need to do too much to have it ready for the 124.

Hi Greg, I have couple question.
Euro spec 124 spider is 140Hp. Tuning will work with Euro spec 124 spider?
HP/TQ gain will be same as US or not? US and Euro spec 124 is same, only ECU is different or there is some difference on the engine?

The good new is that Euro+Drive Lite will work on the Euro Spec 124. However as we don't have access to one, we haven't been able to tune it yet. We are working on that and will hopefully have a solution soon.

We expect very similar power numbers on the Euro car.

Errr... completely different engine. Absolutely no correlations can be made.

It's not a pipe dream.

First to offer a flash tune for the 500 Abarth
First to offer a flash tune for the 500 Turbo
First to offer a flash tune for the normally aspirated 500
First to offer a flash tune for the 500L
First to offer a flash tune for the Dart 1.4 T

First with the 124? It's too soon to tell, but we are working on it.

MaxPower ECM for Fiat 124

Anyone else have experience with these guys at Madness? I cannot discern what the result was from their kit's installation in this Spider 124.

I have tried to get definitive information from Madness and from one of their clients on this board and the best I can get is that it "feels" significantly more powerful, no dyno test, no zero to sixty comparisons.

I went with the Euro+Drive Lite because Eurocompulsion demonstrated significant results with actual dyno testing. Also, Good-Win Racing went with the EDL. The EDL taps into the cam speed sensor in addition to the manifold pressure and boost pressure sensors, unlike the Madness. You can check out the results at www.shopeurocompulsion.net.

The 124 has a pretty small turbo. I suspect you are going struggle to get a long way past 200hp without swapping it out. Still...200hp is probably plenty. Any more and it'll probably need wheels/tyres/suspension mods...and then you should have probably bought a Boxster.

I checked the 500Madness site and while they "guarantee that our MAXPower ECM will outperform all other ECMs on the market", they only claim an increase of 20%. That would be about 32 hp at the flywheel. The EDL is showing 48 hp at the wheel using the "Dynamic" map and 57 hp at the wheel with the "Race" map.

Just for the record, there are many, many people getting 230-250hp out of these engines in 500s with the stock turbo.
