Hi,
I have a 2017 Abarth 124 and only had it a few weeks. I wanted to find out from other owners if what I am seeing is normal.

When the car is moving, there is an inherent tremor/shake in the gearknob. If you place your hand on it, you can feel it moving in your hand; more than just the normal vibrations from engine etc.

When going over uneven ground, I often find that the knob will drop for a few mm and then come back.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it my car?

Just worried in the event it is a failure of gearbox mountings etc.

It had a service involving transmission fluid change recently, so I would hope they would of noted damaged or perished mountings.

Thanks for your help in advance

Since the gearshift on the 124 is directly connected to the transmission, some movement and vibration is normal. Cars that have cable operated shifters (typically front wheel drive) experience much less of this as the cables absorb the vibration.

How much movement is normal is hard to describe over the internet, though. Too much would be caused by excessively worn engine/gearbox mounts. If it worries you, you could have those inspected.

Like out guy above said ^^ direct mount 😎 while direct mount is superior for driving experience, yep you do get more… ‘connected’ to the trans where all thats comes through. Now, if it ever erratically shaking, like crazily, usually means worn out or broken mount(s).
