I am considering a 124. Since it will be my only vehicle, how would I carry my golf clubs? I'm thinking they would have to ride shotgun.

I had my clubs at the dealership, and my carry bag would just fit if I took out driver, 3 wood and hybrids. bag with irons and putter just fit. There has been talk in other blogs about removing the side panels to get some extra width for the longer clubs.

How did the weight distribution change affect the car's handling?

I have also looked into boot (trunk) racks.
First I looked at the Mazda which is carbon fibre. Will it fit the 124 don't know.
The Fiat rack looks much better to my eye - silver but it is £495 in the UK.

The downside to both of them is the max weight they can carry is 10Kgs due to the boot skin if not all of the boot lid being made in aluminium.
So a golf bag on the rack even if I made supporting brackets wouldn't get within the weight limit.

Back to the drawing board for me.

I removed the left side Liner. I then took a bath mat and formed it in for protection and to make it look nicer. A standard carry bag and 14 clubs all go in. I put the woods on top to make it easy to slide the rest of the bag in.

Prior to the 124 spider, I was looking at the MX5 ND, and when I saw the trunk, didn't even bother to test drive, cause my golf bag would not fit or even go in.

I have a regular golf bag, which goes in the trunk easly, except I had to remove the liner on the right side to fit the Drivers or long clubs. What I did I put some air bubble plastic so the Drivers would not hit the side. I put my pulling cart as a passanger. Here is a pic of the golf bag in the trunk.

the smoker fits fine. Golf clubs should fit similarly.
