Heads up! The Record Monza exhaust is UP on the Mopar parts site!

Was just checking the Mopar online parts site and noticed the page for the cat back exhaust FINALLY updated and shows the part in stock!

Link is HERE

Price is normally $995, but is currently on sale somehow for $865.36 ($928 with shipping).

I called my local dealer's part department and he quoted me $995 for the part, so it seems this sale is online only. He couldn't tell me what the install cost would be, I'm still looking into that one.

Overall though, not too bad! I was expecting over $1K for the exhaust alone.

fyi.. moparonlineparts.com is not a FCA site. Its a reseller.. Just like many others out there.
They can discount at will.. Its unlikely a dealer would match prices to this particular site over another.

Here is the same part on the official mopar site: https://mopar.chromedata.com/NextGen/C1111#/productDetails/10474198/258758490
Will this fit on non-Abarth 124 models? I think I read somewhere that the exhaust cutouts were different.
Just when I thought I was done spending money...but hey, I spent several weeks last summer watching EU YouTube videos of the Abarth with Monza exhaust (and last week's episode of The Grand Tour). The Pide Piper tells me to buy it.

Is there a slight horsepower boost with the Monza?
I would be confident that there will be a small power increase with it, at least as much as you can get from any rear only exhaust upgrade on this car. I also think that people who buy this will be happy with the quality and sound of the system. I haven't seen it in person myself, but after years of dealing with Italian cars and Italian exhaust systems, I can say that I have never been disappointed.

The only real downside I see to this system is the cost. For that price one could make a good argument for some other options, but in my view none of the other options have the coolness factor of an actual Italian made exhaust with dual modes like the Record Monza has. Then again, I like some of the other choices as well.

I just got off of the phone with FCA customer service. Online, it will let you order the part if you have the classica or Lusso model but not the Abarth. The customer rep that I was on the phone with stated that he thinks it is wrong online and that it is suppose to be universal, but he wasn't sure so he opened a case file to be sent up to upper management. I should hear something tomorrow or Wednesday and will give an update. As far as I know, the cutouts are different. Rather or not the classica and Lusso models cutouts are too small is something I do not know.

This is so odd, jks9256. Keep us posted.

They are.
I assume this is the exhaust that you can get in Europe and it does sound great but that is a lot of money.

But if all someone wants is a better sounding car why not just do the muffler delete mod? That is the first mod I plan to do that to my Abarth when it arrives (after the visor label removal) and it is an easy (and cheap) job for an exhaust shop. And you can change the stock tips while you are at it as well although I think I will keep them to retain the stock look.

That's a good point Bob. The muffler delete would offer similar sound at full power, similar performance, and cost a lot less.

However the Record Monza has the dual modes, so when you want to enjoy music from your sound system as you cruise down the highway it will be relatively quiet. If you take your car to work at 5am you won't wake the neighbors. Then when you drive aggressively, the flapper will open and you will have the sound. It's sort of the best of both worlds. It's expensive, and it's not for everyone, but I can see why a lot of people seem to want it.

Are you sure? I checked with them and the part does fit my car's VIN #. Even if the exhaust cutouts are different there is plenty of space around my exhaust tips...

Yep. Each of the Abarth's four OEM tips are 2.75" each. This has been discussed in the Good-Win Racing exhaust thread.

As you can see below, the cutouts on the Abarth are much larger...

It's worth mentioning here that the Fiat is not intended as the sports variant. FCA has the Abarth for that, and it's the Abarth that is featured in all the Record Monza advertising material. Just think, for the North American market can you buy a Classica or Lusso with Brembo brakes? ;)

Now now, there's no need to act elitist (:)

I just measured my exhaust cutouts and they are 6" across, so even if the tips are 2.75" there should be just enough room for them to fit. I've just put in an order for the Record Monza exhaust, and either way, I will keep the forum updated!

When my car arrives I plan to do the muffler delete and will post sound clips for everyone to hear; I am surprised no one had tried that yet. I did that to a Focus ST and it sounded great, and only became a bit loud when you really got on it but what is loud to most is not to me!
Sound clips never sound like real life. Can you turn up the volume on your muffler? Of course not. I couldn't be happier with a simple muffler delete on my Classica. It is connected by 2 bolts. You don't even have to remove the muffler, just unbolt it and see what this car is supposed to sound like. If you like it, delete the muffler. Don't like it? Reinstall the 2 bolts.

Brian's posted some great videos over on his Good-Win Racing thread. Go check them out! :)

You've also a central resonator the Abarth doesn't, though from what Brian has said the exhaust sounds better with it in place, rather than without. :)

What you're assuming though is that the cutouts are in precisely the same location on both cars. As you'll see from the pictures on the Good-Win Racing thread, they aren't...
