Fiat worked hard to quieten the cabin.
Yet a few people have commented that one of things they've liked about installing aftermarket intakes is the increased (or change in) sound they produce! ;)

Since there is so much oil in the induction air, maybe those fumes would have entered through the sound tube too?
It is not possible for that to happen as the tube does not directly admit air into the cabin. Within the canister is a diaphragm; air waves from the intake act upon the diaphragm, which in turns acts upon air waves in the cabin.

Anyone thought of fitting the MX5's "Induction Sound Enhancer"? I don't know about the Fiat, but the provision is there in the Abarth's engine bay; it'd just need to be tapped into the airbox...
Yes, you can absolutely do that. It's not my cup of tea, but I can understand the appeal.
