I have one key fob that works just fine, the other key fob will start the car if I use it to physically push the start button but none of the remote button functions work. Key fob battery tests fine (it is new). Both fobs have worked fine up until recently. I'm confused as to why it still works when I push the start button with it? Wouldn't that indicate that the car still recognizes it as a valid key fob? If so, what would reprogramming accomplish? Thanks for any insights!

That usually means a bad battery. Swap batteries with the good fob to see if the issue moves with the battery. Other than that, the battery could be loose or upside down.
Just a thought, the latest battery I replaced had a child safety sticker on the positive side (to do with children swallowing battery) , this sticker needs to be removed, sorry if im stating the obvious . Good luck finding fault

I had a key fob battery go bad and i bought one from harbor freight. Brand new, showed 3v on my multimeter, never worked. Bought a duracell battery of the same type, worked instantly. Button cells are limited on the amount of current they can push out, your battery might not be "bad" but it might not have enough oomph to drive your fob.

And the winner is....contacts! Thanks all for your helpful suggestions. I took the battery out and tested it, 3.22volts. So battery is good. With battery out, I looked at the four contact points on the fob, 2 tabs on the bottom (-side of battery), 2 tabs on the side (+side/edge of battery), where the battery slides into the fob. I gently raised the bottom tabs and then tried to do the same for the side tabs. One of the tabs that hits the side of the battery seems loose, one is tight. I tried to bend those out a bit too. Replaced battery (it required a little push to get it into place, probably because I pulled the tabs out a bit) and bingo...works. I feel like this could happen again and maybe I should report this to dealer since I am still under warranty but mystery solved. Thanks again!
