Long distance buying

As I lurked here for months before making the decision to get an Abarth 124, I noticed lots of folks were buying their cars from dealers hundreds or even thousands of miles away.

When I finally spec'ed out the car I wanted, I realized why... It's not as if I could just find one at my local dealer. Or the four nearest. In fact, by the time I was ready to buy there were only 3 Grigio Argento Abarths with a manual transmission within the western United States!

I bought mine over the phone from www.desertFIAT.com - and they were incredible. Good price, good terms, and outstanding customer service: see my "mini dealer review" video below.

Bottom line: if you're willing to travel, call Eric at desertFIAT and tell him you saw the video. He'll do everything he can to make you as happy as I am!

I bought mine from a dealer 800 miles away. The dealership itself was fine (Holt Fiat in Hurst, TX), but they really fell down in getting it shipped promptly. It took them three tries over two weeks to finally get it on the road, and overall communication was quite bad.

Had I to do it over again, I would catch a bus to the dealer right away and drive it home.
I traveled 130 miles to get one with the options I wanted sense my local dealers couldn't order it. it was worth it!
