Fiat is treating U.S. automotive journalists to a ride & drive event all this week in San Diego. I wandered down to Qualcomm Stadium (where the autocross portion of the ride & drive is being held) and shot a good number of photos of the new Fiat 124 Spider. I figured the Spider fans in this forum might enjoy viewing my photos, so here's the link:

FWIW, I am the owner of the Soul Red 4th generation Miata in the photos. I'm a Miata nut, but I'm warming up to the looks of the Fiat. Anything that helps Mazda "sell" more cars and keep the Miata alive for a 5th and 6th generation is okay by me.

I hope you enjoy my photos.

Brilliant photos! I especially liked the grey Abarth (Grigio Argento?) towards the end. I really enjoyed seeing the Miata and the 124 side-by-side... really highlights the "tucked in" look of the Miata in comparison. In the photos, it makes the 124 look huge. But with the Miata being as small as it is in person, I think the 124 will look much more reasonably-sized :)

Thanks, guys! When the Rosso Red Fiat got parked next to my Soul Red ND Miata, that was at the request of the guys from Kelly Blue Book (you can see their photographer in a couple of my photos). They wanted to shoot some side-by-side photos and video. They told me that some of the photos and/or video would likely get used in their review of the 124 Spider.

The journalists are embargoed until sometime tomorrow (Friday, June 10) before they can post their driving impressions. But, unfortunately, the KBB guys told me it would probably be another week or two before their review gets posted. They said they had multiple reviews (of other cars) in the pipeline.

These are some really quality photos ! Glad to have someone like you on these forums. Took a browse through your gallery and you're definitely a Miata fanatic ;)
The vast majority of my galleries are hidden from view. There are over 200 of them. But you can only find them if you have the direct URL. Well over half of the galleries are Miata related. :)

FYI, the Fiat's U.S. embargo on driving impressions ends at 12:01am EDT on Friday, June 10. That's less than an hour from now so we should start seeing some U.S. driving impressions reviews popping up on automotive sites here very soon.

Here are some great pics of the Red Abarth with the black stripe... the color scheme is growing on me and might be sportier looking than the more subdued gray\black stripe I was looking at (back when we thought we could get the red mirrors).

I was also thinking that for those who go with the white/red look, the Tricolore Stripe might look quite nice going down the center of the car. On the rest of the colors, it might be too much "pop"... but on the white it would give it some additional Italian flair.

I added a photo below (I know I know... it's a Ferrari. But the effect would be similar haha)

Oh great. I had just decided on red until you posted that.

A really quick and dirty photoshop.....The bulges in the hood really make it hard to put a real stripe on it

Nice mock-ups!! Although in my mind's eye, I was thinking more along the lines of having the green/white/red in a very narrow strip running down the dead-center of the car... essentially between the character lines on the hood. We couldn't put them across the soft-top (obvi) but they could definitely continue from behind the wind-deflector, across the trunk, and terminate above the license plate.
