I noticed that none of the 124s at the dealer had the dreaded satellite radio fin. But I suppose there is some aftermarket antenna, right? Did anyone get that option, and if so, where is your antenna?
Over in the Miata forum, you would not believe the state of rage over the "shark fin". I guess it's a default item from the factory and Mazda did not source it wisely. The German cars have a much smaller one, and you can trust that it's effective. But if you believe the postings, some people are rejecting the car over the antenna! Pretty intense.
I have no affection for XM, so will not opt for it. But if I wind up with a Miata I'm not getting my dander up over the shark fin.

You can only get siriusxm with either the premium or luxury packages.. (lusso or abarth) . No base trim has it.
The antenna is the middle of the trunk. It is body color.

If you run the build and price configurator at fiatusa.com you will see the antenna appear when you add the package.. Make sure to have rear view turned on.
You can use the expand button to make the picture larger...

You can probably find pictures elsewhere. You can see the antenna on my lusso in my thread in the new member section, though it isnt easy to see.
I can post a picture later today.

If you buy a Classica with the Technology package, there will be a Sirius/XM free year brochure in your owner packet but no sat antenna and the XM Radio selection on your touch screen will be grayed out and cannot be selected.

Same is true for the Lusso. We originally wanted the Premium Collection but there wasn't one available in red, so we opted for one with just the Safety & Comfort Collection. The FIAT website tags the Premium Collection "with Sirius" although it also includes adaptive LED headlights with washers, Navigation and the up-level BOSE sound system, which is where the Sirius connection comes in. Otherwise, no Sirius, and no shark fin.

I do sometimes regret not having the better sound system, and we plan to add Navi in the future, so I suspect that will require adding the shark fin as well. Still haven't seen that as an after-purchase upgrade option yet, so still looking...

When you install the Nav card to enable it on your radio it does not require adding the shark fin.

So if you have a Lusso with GPS and no shark fin, you could attach an aftermarket fin and you should get the traffic. If so where do you connect cable of the fin, to the radio or what. tia

...unless you want the traffic update capability.
as far as i can tell so far, you can never have live traffic updates. my car is a lusso w/ premium package and when i called sirius to price live traffic updates they said it is not available with this radio with them. so if it receives live updates it is not via the sirius antenna. though others say HD signals could provide that info to the radio. is there a hack to turn this on? i have yet to take mine on a trip that would normally have caused my radio to do recalculations. any time i go on a trip south of me (baltimore/DC) there are recalculations, so i probably won't know for sure til i do that trip. i have not seen any sign anyplace yet that you can upgrade the 7.0 radio to add sirius if it did not come with it.

I just got a Classica with the Technology Package and you are 100% correct! XM brochure is there and the XM option is grayed out, how can I get XM? Just add (shark fin) Antenna? or Antenna plus module?
People have asked about this before, and there doesn't seem to be any straightforward way to add XM to the infotainment center. You'll probably have to get a separate receiver and plug it in through the AUX port.

My concern is that the XM antenna may not work if you put on a Luggage rack for a trip. On my motorcycles I have a very small 2" square XM magnetic antenna works fine so I guess the FIAT designer got a little carried away and did not think people might want to add a luggage rack.

I am where you are at. I have both Sirius and Nav. And there is no avenue I have found to get live traffic updates. Official or hacked.

I just bought a Classica 2020 and it comes with both, shark fin and antenna. I didn't know the fin was the antenna for the SiriousXM! do I need both?

You only need the shark fin if you want to receive satellite radio and subscribe to it. My car has the shark fin, I don't subscribe, and I am not offended by the fin. I don't understand the outrage about it. Would it be nice to have a flat, plain trunk / boot? Yeah, a little. But not worth getting exercised about IMO.

Why would anyone complain about the fin and not the rc car antenna sticking out three feet from the rear fender! The shark fin is sleek, aero dynamic and placed perfectly in the middle of the truck making it perfectly symmetrical. I wish there was a way to forgo the antenna and run everything through the shark fin.
