Jayemm, ripped the 595, and the only reviewer i've found who was negative on the boxster gts 4.0....

he starts off criticizing the styling and the engine, but as he drives it more and more, he really likes it....

I find it amusing that the guy wearing the clown shirt is whining about what he perceives as vehicle styling flaws. That leads one to suspect that anything he might be critical of is actually spot on beautiful. lol

At one point in time I worked for a company that provided to and required those of who worked the regional and national truck shows to wear similar looking "clown shirts". Kind of a uniform thing and everyone at the shows, both vendors and attendees always knew who we were. The nice thing about those shirts was that each evening after the shows shut down and we headed out for dinner and drinks we always kept those stupid shirts on and when we got to the popular restaurants and/or clubs we would always walk right past whatever line there was telling everyone we were the band and walk right in. Never ceased to amaze me, it always worked.

Seemed so weird for him to fault the steering wheel response on the boxster gts 4.0, and the suspension as being too firm. Quite the opposite of nearly every other reviewer out there. Different strokes for different folks. I see him as objective, just not aligned with my likely reactions and observations.....

He makes so many comparisons to MX-5 NDs but fails to note the 124 has superior noise dampening. I wish he would have said up front he likes the car. If you only watch the first 2-3 minutes like most YouTube viewers do, you think he doesn't like the car.

I was so pleased to see his delight emerging the longer he drove it. We have to admit the 124 has insufficient noise dampening in the trunk / boot. The OEM tires also howl, and he was driving in the rain. It is what it is.
He would have been totally over the moon effusive if he had driven the US Classica with 160 hp.

maybe.... important to qualilfy any of these chaps reviews with an understanding that the impressions and observations are all relative to what you get for your money, and what their pre conceptions of the brand are, and therefore their expectations coming in..... he had extremely high expectations of the boxster gts 4.0, and it didn't meet them. he had extremely low expectations for the 124, as he associated it with the 595, fiat, his personal initial reaction to the classic style styling, and the 1.4L engine. and it outperformed his expectations. so 20 hp may have assisted that as well, but he ackowledged that the abarth version likely addresses any engine shortcomings he felt. "it's all relative"... in the end, he loves an mx5, and found that the spider is every bit it's equal if not it's superior. with this cat, i wouldn't be surprised to see a review of the abarth where he flips and says it didn't add the oomph that i thought it would.... mood of the day

Jayemm is solid.
very honest guy, and makes good content
He has me waffling on a 2021 gts 4.0, in potential favor of a 2016 gts. 394 down to 335 hp, but 30k or more cheaper .....

Your assessment of him is as well grounded as his assessments of the vehicles he reviews. Solid, yeah, he looks pretty heavy. Honest, yeah, he said the vehicle was loaned to him so I guess he didn't steal it. Good content... sorry, that's hugely debatable. lol

His job is to be entertaining and provocative vs. someone to calibrate your mental car compass to.
Yup... provocative for sure. Most certainly his fashion sense. :) I'm probably just getting touchy in my old age (hey, you kids, get the hell off my lawn...)... There's lots of car reviewers out there, and there's something about this guy that just rubs me the wrong way. I can't put my finger on it, but he makes Doug Murano look good! Okay, that's not quite fair. I kind of enjoy Doug's reviews, even with the quirks and features.

I miss Top Gear UK Richard Hammond did a review of this car that was spot on! Germey Clarkson didn’t like it in his old age, James May I don’t remember what he thought of it. All thoughts and opinions were accurate, and man are they entertaining.
