If I buy a white Abarth and wanted to get the hood/trunk painted to look like the euro Abarths (black bonnet, red trim on rear view mirrors and spoiler), what would I tell the people who were painting it with regards to the exact color/gloss, and what method should I tell them to use (e.g., I hear you can get a wrap for the hood, but the actual cars from Fiat are painted).

Also, I hear that the US Abarths will have the Fiat logo in some places, are these hard to trade out for the scorpion?

About ready to pull the trigger on one of the manual Abarths here on the west coast. Just wondering if I should try and wait for all the trim to settle, or if I should just grab it now and modify it myself.

Thanks all.

You can get the black hood and trunk in the US, it is just a $1995 option...

There aren't Abarth logos on the front fenders, I'm sure those can be sourced and stuck on. The Abarth has the standard Fiat wheel in the US with a Fiat badge and no red stripe at 12 oclock. I think the only way to change the logo will be a new airbag.

No idea on paint vs. wrap.

The only FIAT logo on the US Abarth is on the steering wheel from what I've seen in pictures online. Perhaps the background of the entertainment touchscreen as well if you count that. I suspect the aftermarket will have a metallic Abarth sticker to cover the FIAT logo on the steering wheel. I saw instructions on another thread to change the touchscreen background image, so you could potentially change that too.

The longer you wait the more negotiating power you *may* have. Reading through recent posts it sounds like Abarths are going for MSRP. Waiting could also allow time for additional trim options to become available, like the Abarth steering wheel with its scorpion logo and top center red leather marker.

I want the same Euro paint configuration. If I can't get the factory painted matte black hood/trunk, I'll go with a wrap. There is a boatload of wrap shops in SoCal.

Regarding the red trim, any paint shop would have the Fiat paint code (this might be true of wrap shops as well, and they can do gloss). Awhile back someone mentioned that Fiat might eventually have red caps for the mirrors and front spoiler.

BTW, You mentioned that you might "pull the trigger". Have you seen any Abarths for sale on the West Coast?

Yes. Dealers are getting VINs in but they are not yet on the lot. The dealer I'm working with says the 21st-27th as soft dates. I missed one in Tacoma, WA by 20 minutes (someone put down a deposit). There's a dark silver in Glendale, CA.

I'm just talking about manual transmissions with the lux package. There's a bunch of automatics. I'm reserving a white one with interior black/red trim near San Francisco.

Some dealers are letting people reserve by coming to terms. Some are taking deposits. Mine is being cool and giving me first dibs.

Good luck in your hunt! Definitely check out the individual dealership sites. For some of the ones I've found, the salespeople didn't even know they had the car coming and I had to send them the URLs to their own sites.

Bffmike, we are truly looking at the same exact car, lol. A few weeks ago I found a dealer in Vegas who was willing to take a first-right-of-refusal $1,000 refundable deposit. Additionally, at least six of the larger SoCal dealers have my phone number and have made various promises to me. I've even gone on a couple of test drives with them. I'm finding that I'm much more informed (and enthusiastic) about the Abarth than many of the young salespeople I've encountered. Thus, it doesn't surprise me that you are sending them the URLS to their own sites. I'm selling my current ride this week, so your September 21-27 dates might turn me into a Lyft passenger for awhile, lol.

the part number to get the red mirror caps is 68307688AA and should be available for order through your local FCA studio.

...and the tow hook cover.
i do not know aobut those two items. they do not have those two listed in the accessory catalog, but i am sure you could order them in red like the standard red color but not sure it is the same color, otherwise take ur parts off and have a local shop shoot them.

just a standard part number probably. would need to just hang with a local parts guy and have him look it up, might be faster for him if you can supply him with a VIN number from a car that already has what you want, he could use it to filter out extraneous part numbers.
