Anyone know of, or is anyone working on a radio panel option for the base radio? From what I have read, you can't pull the 7" inch screen due to the control module but you should be able to on the base radio like so. I would much rather have a gauge cluster, or a boost gauge mounted in that location.

Unfortunately it looks like the 7" controls a lot more vehicle specific information, besides looking dumb on the dash...

I think the panel in that picture is the trim piece from the radio with the head unit and control unit removed but it may be a one-off based on the same design. The Global MX-5 cup car has changed since that concept was built: there's now a flat switch panel in that location (I think it's just bent over the trim piece and screwed into place). You might be able to buy something from Long Road Racing, the official manufacturer for Global MX-6 cup, if you're not happy with the trim piece or making something yourself.

I had considered doing something similar but now I like the head unit as a bluetooth interface for my phone; I'm currently considering my options for a phone mount in that area next to the head unit; CravenSpeed has a vent ring mount for a phone (says Miata but should work for Fiat 124 Spider as well) or gauge pod, but I don't like that it moves the vent outward, so I'm looking into something like mounting behind the head unit or between the head unit and trim piece.
