Not my first post, but oh well!

I'm here mainly because of a photograph. A photograph of a car I didn't even know was 80% Miata, but then again few people who see a 124 do. Nothing against a Miata; it launched when I was 15 and I thought it was cool, but I was more of a truck guy back then (because what parent gives their kid a Miata?).

I didn't even know I wanted this car until I saw it, I can't explain it. I mean, I lined up at 4AM to put a deposit on a Tesla 3, something I cancelled earlier today. The Tesla just looked bland all of a sudden, and I get all my gas $1 off a gallon anyway thanks to Kroger which makes the BEV premium harder to justify.

Just waiting on the local dealer to work out the affiliate pricing on an Abarth currently in production, doesn't even have a VIN assigned yet. It does have a combo which will likely prove rare: luxury package and Recaro seats (I've got the actual build order), something the website won't let you spec. Sucks paying for fancy seats twice, but this is actually the config I wanted (plus Brembos, MT, Pearl white).

I'll be coming from a Prius (I was Mr. Practical 4 years ago) so this'll be like a Ferrari to me. The way I see it is that I've passed the half way mark in life, and while I'm not having a crisis there are some things that shouldn't be put off any further.

I can understand your situation. Over the years leading up to purchasing my Lusso, I owned a Honda Civic Hybrid, a Ford Fusion Hybrid and a Ford C-Max Energy (plug-in hybrid). At 69 years of age, and having been a sports car guy for so much of my youth, I bit the bullet. But with 36 mpg highway, I am actually using about the same amount of fuel on my trips to Texas, as I was with the C-Max, and enjoying it way more.
