Hi Folks, Yesterday, I took my 2019 Abarth to Peake's in Sodus, New York to have Recall Y92 done.
Peake are good folks who know my car, having done its yearly oil/filter changes and inspections.
They always do a good job. They replaced the fuel pump on this Y92 Recall in about 3 hours.
I spoke to Peake's service manager after the fuel pump was replaced and he told me they accessed the
old fuel pump through a hatch behind passenger seat without having to take the seat out.

I drove my beautiful La Scorpione home with her top down, and a big smile on my face !

I was able to take a few photos of the recall procedure steps from Peake's service department laptop screen, and attached them as follows:

2. IMG_1611.JPG Location of Fuel Pump.

Hi again folks, I noticed my first photo contains the url pointer to the recall procedure. It's long, so I wrote it down on a piece of paper as follows: https:/dealerconnect.chrysler.com/service/mds2002/tsb/en_US/000000003b9c0d9b.pdf
I opened a new window on chrome and typed in the above url, hit enter, and hey presto, up came the recall pdf !
I read thru it then downloaded it to my download files and it saved as 000000003b9c0d9b
I found it interesting reading. There are 61 steps in Part A and 40 steps in Part B.
Quite a complex procedure. I commend the Peake Service Techs for having the patience and skill to execute this recall.
I trust you will find this info useful. I wish you all the best from La Scorpione.

Hi once more folks,
I noticed there is a copyright statement in the recall procedure, if you look closely.
I didn't see it until after I had posted the url. It wasn't my intention to break copyright rules.
I just thought it would be interesting for you folks and myself, as owners of our fabulous Fiat 124 Spiders, to be able to access the url and read the steps involved.
Arrivederci , La Scorpione.

You can buy the factory scanner (dongle) for $500, and pay a subscription and have all the access you want. It’s actually relatively cheap compared to other manufactures. At that log in just choose independent operator and put in your given credentials. Probably the most user friendly factory scanner ever!

Hi Augerhandle, You are right, I tried it just now and also get the request for User id and Password.
I would guess that somehow in that link there is a dealer user name and they were still logged in when I tried it,
and that's why it worked for me. My dealer probably logged off for the weekend and that's why it's now requesting a user
id and password. I do have the pdf saved in my download files. I will have a think and see if i can make it available to share,

How long did you have to wait for the new pump?? NYC dealer says parts not available!

Hi markthedriver, I called my dealer on July 21, 2022 for an appointment to have the recall done, and they set me up
for 9 am on August 3, 2022, saying they would order the new fuel pump for me and all I need to do is to turn up.
I did so and the new fuel pump is working fine.

I guess it's possible that there are no parts available for your car at this time, because Fiat has many owners at the same time requesting the recall be done, and they have ran out of new fuel pumps for the time being.
I'm sure they must be ordering more.
I must have been lucky.
I hope your dealer can get you your new fuel pump soon.

By the way, I drove my car for 7700 miles with no problems before the recall was done, so I had great confidence that if my car did have a bad fuel pump and if it did fail, it would give a symptom like running out of gas, so even though it is not the same, 'cos it would have to be towed to a dealer if it failed, it's fixable with the recall.
Also, I'm sure I read somewhere that no cars having the bad fuel pump have failed up to this date.
I can't remember where I read that.
It may have been in the recall doc.
All the best.

So I've sat on this for a few months because my dealer was unable to order the replacement fuel pump module, plus it being Winter. I confirmed with FCA that the part is avail, so I contacted my nearest dealer and they say they need to inspect the fuel pump before placing the order.

What in the actual F? So what, if they pull the current fuel pump, say it's fine, then I have to wait until it actually strands me before I can get the recall performed?

I agree with you that pulling your current fuel pump (which is working fine for you right now), then saying it's fine, then having to have you wait until it actually strands you before you can get the recall performed, doesn't make sense.

Perhaps they want to double check your current fuel pump's part number to see if it was manufactured within the known failing date range. If it was, then they would order a new one, but if it doesn't fall within the failing date range, then they would expect it not to fail, and therefore not order a new pump.
Why they don't just go ahead and order and replace the one you have is a mystery.

Does your recall paper just say .all cars manufactured in 2019 have to have the recall done?
If it does, then your dealer shouldn't have to pull the current one out to check it's part number and date, before ordering a new one. I suggest you call them up again and ask what it is they expect to find on the current fuel pump.

The other possibility is for you to take the recall paper to another dealer and ask them to do the recall.
Maybe, they will just order the new one and let you know when it arrives, so you can take your car in and get the old fuel pump replaced.
Hope these suggestions help. All the best.

The recall is VIN specific, so pulling the fuel pump to check the part # is irrelevant.

I'm printing off the recall notice and taking it with me. If they want to give me guff, I'm going to push back. Hoping it doesn't come to that, since I'd have reservations with having them perform the work. The local FIAT group says good things about the dealership, so we'll see. Honestly, wish FCA would send me the fuel pump and I'd do it myself as long as I can make sure it's recorded correctly.

I looked at the initial Fiat Recall letter I received and it says "this notice applies to your vehicle 2019 Fiat Spider VIN xxx"

I'm assuming you received the same letter for your car with your VIN yyy"

On the left margin it says: Call the FCA recall assistance center at 1-800-853-1403 so
"An agent can sign you up to be notified when remedy parts become available, or answer any other questions you may have."

I suggest you call that number and ask their advice on how to get the recall done at that dealer you spoke to, or at another dealer.
The recall letter from FCA explicitly says the recall must be done, so why the dealer said it wants to check the old pump first, doesn't make sense, and is not necessary. I
t's a lot of time and work to take the old one out and check it before ordering a new one..
Best just to order and put a known good replacement in.
