I don't know if that is the correct saying, but let's say my spider gets scrapped, now my insurance does not offer replacement cost ins. That is they don't give you a new spider even after 2 years.
But the fiat dealer does(I have not checked their price) I usually take this ins.
But it's only a summer car.

That's "Gap" Insurance - I always take it on a new car in case something does happen. If you get rid of the car you can usually get a refund on the unused insurance.

I used to buy gap, but now that my loans are usually far lower than the value of the car, I do not worry. If you have bad credit, or are financing close to the value of the car, by all means opt for it!

For me it's not so much the loan on the current car but the difference between paying thousands more later on to replace it, if necessary, versus paying a few hundred dollars up front to cover that difference later. It seems a fair value.
