Yes exactly. Just copy everything on the card to a folder on your PC and/or to another card. It works just fine. I have mine on a faster and larger card now, although I can't see any noticeable difference in speed etc but I do have an easy to get at backup just in case. It will only work in your car though as it is locked to the VIN
Fantastic, it is backed up to the computer and next time at Staples I will pick up a fast card, thanks

Interesting stuff. I have a genuine card on its way to me as my Spider was supplied without the SD card. As a non-techie, is there any advantage of making a copy of the card before loading it? Would that allow me to replace it if there were any issues going forward?
Also does anyone have any feedback on the paid for subscription service for live traffic updates/fuel prices/weather/etc?
Is it value for money? Thanks

No advantage before loading it, you will need to do 60 miles or so (100km) before the card is then locked to the VIN of yor car. Up to that point the license is locked to the serial number of the SD card it comes on, so any copy to another card in that period will not work. This is how it works with a new car and new card, I assume it will be the same with a new card for a car that has done some miles.
After that you can copy it to a folder on your PC and/or a spare card as a backup.
The Fiat Map Update Toolbox will also make a backup of the card too.
The traffic/fuel prices/weather is OK. Fuel priices and weather are far from essential. Traffic isn't too bad and seems to work reasonably well asking if you want to be re-routed due to traffic up ahead but it is a long way from TomTom traffic services if you've ever used that on a TomTom device. It doesn't make it clear (or not that I've found easily while driving) where your reroute will take you or how much time it will save. TomTom does all that and lists on the side of the main screen all upcoming delays and expected time of delay.

You should get a free trial with the card (can't remember if it was 30 or 60 days)

Few days ago I successfully updated the maps (Europe - December 2017 update). So it keeps on working.
Vice versa the iMac doesn't work anymore! Ancient Romans would say: "Quid pro quod". Something in change of something else :)

Hi guys. Just bought my Lusso 2018 a few days ago. Can you advise me on what sat nav I have ?. Tomtom /Uconnect /other ? It is a 7" unit. It is nearly identical in operation to the one I had in my, now sold, 2017 MX5 ND.

The only issue I have is that the traffic updates are very few and far between, whereas there were plenty at all times in the Mazda. Seems like an intermittent /poor reception problem ? Any advice please. UKaren, South Wales.

Definitely not TomTom, despite what Fiat may tell you. Mazda system, not sure who built it for them but updates are managed by Naviextras.com. Download the Map Update Toolbox from http://www.124spiderinfotainment.com/vehicle_select?return_to=%2Fhome and you'l be all set to update your Nav SD card via PC, it doesn't update to the car.

See you around South Wales!

Hi again. Still learning my way on how/where to post questions !

Regarding where temperature "needle" should sit once car is warmed up, in normal road use.

Mine is a bit under 100° .... still on the solid white bar.
Is this OK given the dial goes all the way up to 120°+ ?
That's about it, same on ours. Bit disconcerting when you are used to 'normal' being halfway but perfectly OK for the 124.

Cheers mhk1058, much appreciated.
Guess I shouldn't worry so much and stop looking for things that aren't there !

I must say I'm very impressed with the car. All systems/contrls/operations appear to be working fine.
K&N panel filter fitted. Tyres pumped to 33 psi. Ipod sync'd, Samsung mobile bluetoothed.
Not planning anything else for the time being, will put a few miles on the car to let it settle in first.

I also have problems updating the maps where it worked fine before. The error message says, it could be due to storage space, corrupt card or network problems. I also tryed everything: different computers (both mac and windows) different SD card etc etc.
In the end I also went to the dealer, who also didn’t have a clue. I left my SD card there as I had a working copy. They are still working on it :-(
Appears that problem is with the card itself being flakey, copied file to new card formatted FAT32 and all went well
