Hi looked into this last week. What I found out is that Japanese paint finishes are at the soft end of paint hardness spectrum.
European cars BMW, Audi etc are at the hard end. The Fiat 124 is made and painted in Japan so I am expecting my Passione Red car to be soft. Therefore confirming 'Hand wash only'.

Some car washes have a convertible setting. Doesn't hurt to ask. And plenty of damage can be done when hand washing (not to mention water wasted).

That is very true. Something as simple as following the two bucket method (with grit-guards preferably) can save you quite a bit of damage. I would never take my cars through regular car washes, even if it were a solid hard top. Go on YouTube and check out guys like Larry from Ammo NYC

I've taken my 2010 MX 5 through the mechanical car wash for six years with no visible harm. I do take off the antenna though.

The manual that I got with mine suggested hand wash only. So hear's my dilemma...I had my car detailed. Prior to that, I was able to listen to the music on my Iphone through my speakers. After it was detailed, my phone will not sync with the car. I tried to "pair" it, but the instructions in the manual do not work. Any help ?

I would assume that anyone who takes the time and effort to hand wash their car will be careful not to use damaging cleaners or dirty sponges, towels, etc.

The manual advises against using automated car washes.

I would take it to the dealer and have them fix it.

No, Bluetooth is still connected, Iphone is not found ! Like someone else said, I'll have to take it to the dealer and have them teach me. Tried to get an oil change at the place I've been going to for past 20 years, and they couldn't do it, cause they didn't have the filter needed. Guess I'll have to start having the dealership do that as well. Thanks for your help ! See you on the road

Spider and car washes.

Anyone have any issues taking their spider through a car wash? Any damage?

How about wear and tear on the convertible roof?
Whenever my Abarth arrives, my local Studio has no VIN information on any Abarths headed their way, I will have no choice but to use the local auto car wash because my apartment community has no outside water available.

My local car wash does an outstanding job. It is completely brushless, with employees doing the wash with soapy mitts. Have asked the management about customers with convertibles using their wash, and they said it is common. They do have individual hand wash available for $35.00.

I've never found a community that didn't have a self-service car wash somewhere. Don't cheat yourself out of the extreme pleasure of doing it yourself... and for a LOT less than $35!

Nooooooobody puts a mitt on my car but me. ;)
