Most of the automotive magazines have complained about the 124's lack of power above 5500rpm. Car and Driver said this area of the RPM range is "not worth exploring" in the 124. They are correct, in stock form the engine is weak in this range. This is a big part of the reason that in stock form the MX-5 is quicker, and it was one of the main areas we concentrated on with our Euro+Drive Lite tuning system. WE SOLVED THIS.

To demonstrate this I have a video of a third gear pull from 3000rpm up to redline. This is an automatic Classica with Euro+Drive Lite (Dynamic tune) and NO other mods. You can clearly see that the tach needle doesn't slow down at 5500, if anything it speeds up slightly.
