Had an appointment with sales person in which he had converted the Lusso to the Abarth with Comfort package.

Here I am greeted by the Top Sales Manager. looks at me and tells me why are you buying the Abarth and not the PRIME package, Simply, I have a budget to respect and I don't need all that extra accessories(I knew where he was heading) He wanted to sell me the fully loaded Abarth. but I played the girl had to get. LOL

Bottom line, I walked out with the RED Manual ABARTH with Prime package at $45,500 canadian taxes included. Plus free Abarth car cover and TAG (anti theft) off course 7 years 0 int. tested the Abarth.

So after the deal I drove off with the Abarth, yes the tack was red. I put in sports mode and my buddy was a passanger, I kicked in first,2 and 3rd. he started frikking out due of the power the car had. Anyway, ride was smooth comfortable, drove with roof open on a sunny on a 8 degree C and felt great. I had driven the Lusso before and you do feel the 4 HP difference. Inside the car I did not hear the exhaust and conversation was clear.

I had checked the odometer and had 2x km. When I can back it had 6x, Gave the keys to the salesman to check it out and tells me that is your car that you drove. Called another guy and told him this car is going into storage and coming out in April.

Another sales person wanted to test the Abarth, and he told him this is his car, sold, and going into storage and get yourself another demo car.

The Abarth with comfort package, He had taken an extra $1,100. Off but today
The Abarth with Deluxe package(prime), He took an extra $ 3,300 off, plus the free Abarth cover and the TAG(tracking security system $450.) free. and getting it in April 2017.

I don't know where you live, but if in Canada, and you plan to get the Abarth, I suggest you do it now, great discounts and pick it up in 2017, What I realized sales for Roadsters are down, cause poeple buy them in Spring.

salesman was telling the manager we have to offer free storage to clients who buy it now so we can easly sell them. good luck

Gee it's nice to live in a country where we don't have to put sports cars away for winter and we don't even have to worry about summer and winter tires and anti-freeze!

Why would you put it away anyway?
It's Autumn/Winter here in UK and driving my 124 home after work is what puts a smile back on my face! It's better than any therapist and if any nice dry 'sunny' days come along (rare things I know!) the top goes straight down. :D

NB: 'sunny' in UK typically means a lighter shade of grey .....

I prefer driving with the top down during our winter to be honest because one thing I will say, at least for here in Sydney, is that on any day approaching 30 the sun has a searing heat that'd fry an egg on your noggin, and absolutely forget about it on those occasional summer 40+ days...

Well I have seen some Miata hard top been driven in winter. But the good part of having winters, is that cars will last longer to the point they become vintage cars>:)

And when you drive every day a convertible it become a routine, while when it comes autumn, you get upset that you have to store it, but comes spring can't wait to get it out, it's like having a new girlfriend every spring.:x:x>:)

Agree Pete. We had an NC MX5 in Sydney, and in summer it was too hot to have the roof down. 30 mins of driving around and you'd have serious sunburn. Top down was a morning and evening thing.

Now that is some funny stuff. Where I live, I can snow ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon, on the same winter day. I can drive my Lusso almost every day of the year, because our 2" snows in the city melt off by 10 am, except on the rare occasion. I have lived in and traveled to some wonderful places in the western hemisphere, but Albuquerque is the greatest place to live. (Don't tell anyone. We don't have room for many more people.)

I'm not far from you, I live in Quebec City! I have to finish to pay my actual daily driver and will keep it as my winter car. Plan to get it somewhere in october or november next year, and I know I'll get some discounts. Just have to decide between the 124 Abarth or MX-5 GT but a test drive will help solve that.

I prefer the design of the Fiat 124 but I fear the long term reliability and parts availability (in case FIAT broke with Chrysler and leave North America market again). I plan to keep this car for a very long time!>:)

Gee. It's a Mazda with Fiat badges built in a Mazda factory by Mazda. The only Fiat bit is the 1.4 Multiair which has proven to be a very durable little engine. Sure Fiat support MAY be an issue, but I don't know why it would be less reliable in the short/medium/long term than an MX5. It were built by Fiat in Italy, I'd appreciate you had more reason for concern.

Good point! But we have heard so much horror story on the Fiat 500 around here... so I wish you are right about the 1.4 MultiAir Turbo. I know the rest of the car is petty much Mazda including the former "NC" Miata 6 speed manual tranny.

Bienvenue Wolf, I saw the MX5, did not test drive it, but between the two sisters I chose the Italian.(apart I am Italian born and owned Fiat 128, 128 3p and Brava) I did not have mechanical issues beside the rust, but everyone had rust issues around the 70ties.

I play golf and no way I can put a golf bag in a Miata, trunk opening is too small.
1.4 turbo proved its credibility, transm is Mazda.

Assuming I like both of them, and buying today Fiat is giving $2,500 vs 750 Mazda
Fiat has 7 yrs 0% vs 2.9% Mazda

Dealer stores the car till April 2017 reg. Jan 2017 vs Miata you have to get it today.
(dealer gave me the Abarth car cover and TAG) and saved an extra $3,300. while Mazda was able to get a merely $1,000. So I saved a lot.

You plan to buy next fall, well its your choice and sure there will be rebates, but my gut feeling is that if the Spider sells well I am afraid such deals may not occur next spring or fall. These guys have to sell what ever Fiat sends them. It's called PROMOTION
In Montreal LONG POINT fIAT CHRYSLER metropolitan service road/Langelier. They were the most agressive in discounts they go by volume. Ask for LUIGI. >:)
Bonne Chance.

My guts tell me sales will drop in the coming years after initial "frénésie". Both cars are new and were long awaited and they sells very well now. If the sales drops on both I think there will be more manufacturer rebate. But only time will tell

That said, if a had the chance to buy this fall it could already been done :) I agree that FCA dealers are more aggressive here in Canada. I think they will sell more 124 than MX-5 here because of that!

In August I went to look at the Miata and 2016 very few available in Quebec and not too much choice to select and they didn't discount it much, the 2017 well Very little discount.

Mazda, will only bring so many cars in, so they will not get stuck with inventory and obliged to give discounts.

I think the same thing with Fiat, they may flood the market to promote it, but come next year and so, they will do like Mazda bring only a certain no. of cars not to lower the price.
