YES! If you are going to track your car, you really should get one. It isn't much of a performance enhancer as much as it is protection to the parts around the turbo. It gets stinkin' HOT >

Folks, the Sila Blanket WILL smoke for a few days. You need to remove the heat shield for it fit properly and work well.

I suggest tool around for a while after you first install it so that you burn off most of the smoke early. Most, not all, blankets WILL smoke to some degree. It's the nature of the material. That said, Dave's experience seems much more extreme than what I experienced.

It should only suck for a week or so of regular driving. Then it's pretty much gone after that.

Expect you'll have to clean off the powdery residue afterwards.

For me it's function over beauty, so it wasn't an issue for me.

Thanks sdlynx, that is exactly how I installed mine. Mine did smoke a lot and I'm not accustom to that much smoking coming from under the hood unless there are problems. Thanks again for the video.

Yeah, from what you described, it sounds like yours was a bit extreme. Quite possible you got one with extra fiberglass on the exterior. That's likely what is smoking. It will eventually burn off. Meanwhile it'll be a real PITA.

Does this blanket continue to produce smoke and odor long after the install...need to know as my nose is a sensitive to certain odors...thanks

It only lasted about a week with mine. However, I did a nice long heat cycle at the start (and a few more during that week) to burn off as much as possible right away.

Guys... These things DO smoke for a while. If you don't like that possibility, don't get one. Simple, easy solution. Yes, the inside will look burnt, just like the bottom of a frying pan will look burnt after a while. It doesn't mean it's not working. If it's excessive (I can't tell, since no video or example to show), then there could be an issue.

I just installed the SILA titanium turbo blanket...10 minute job at best...took it for a 25 minute spirited drive...really not much smoke or odor...once shut off and stopped it is smoking a little more...

That's when it actually gets hottest - after you've stopped. No more airflow. It's funny. I saw your pics and thought, "Did he just copy my pic - nope! never mind." hahahahahaha! #redspidersFTW!
