I'm curious if anyone has studied the car warranty terms or has been rejected a warranty claim related to modifications made to the car. Are there a series of modifications that will broadly void the warranty or will it be issue specific where a dealer claims that a specific modification contributed to a problem?

I'm your Huckleberry!

No mod or tune in and of itself voids the overall warranty by being installed.

NOW... If you do something like melt a piston and you have so much as non OEM spark plug, they can deny coverage for that repair. Then you laugh profusely in the service manager's face when he tells you he'll need a credit card to cover the $11.5K to replace the entire engine, put EVERYTHING back to stock, and send you home with your stuff in a box.

By the FCA you can modify most of the car. But if the part you installed contributed to the damage of the car when inspected by them it would instantly void warranty.

DOT4 blinker fluid is a warranty killer.

All kidding aside, in the USA legally (Mag Moss) no single mod will void the entire warranty. The burden of proof is on the dealer to prove the mod caused the issue for that one specific thing in the warranty claim.

In the real world, some companies play shenanigans with customers and dare them to fight. Most people don't.
