What Surprised You About The 124 Spider

I was going through and reading an article about 124 Spider owners naming things that surprised them after ownership. Some said finding the 12v power in the footwell, someone else said how easy it was to move the top, etc.

So, why not try this out where we have a good amount and growing amount of owners ?

What surprised you about the 124 Spider after taking ownership of it ?

had a text pop up on the display from my ip7. Thought I saw somewhere that this didn't work with iPhones, but apparently it does. Nice little feature without being distracted and wondering what the text was.

I didn't know that the MT had a hill assist feature. I guess that's a common feature, these days, but I haven't had a new car in a long time :)
By the way, do you like the hill assist feature? I ask this because it seems to stick more than needed. It is slow to disengage and hinders me more than it helps me.

i would pay $'s to have this feature eliminated or even better selectable. Hate is a kind word and really bummed they included it. I am constantly hindered by it. l realize it helps many people but why this can't be over-ridden is a mystery to me.
I was surprised by this as well as it didn't seem to be mentioned in the manual. It's OK much better than the same system on our Focus which sometimes seems reluctant to let go!
Mine pleasant surprise was having never wanted a soft top in 35 yrs of driving I now relish any opportunity to get the top down!
Could you please provide a link to the article? Curious what others say (no real surprises yet to report here).

Thx, S
My biggest surprise was how much power can be extracted from 1.4 liters with a fairly simple modification.

Like most turbos, you can fairly easily crank up the boost to quickly produce impressive numbers.
I had no idea on the hill assist feature either, but I've noticed it a few times, and it's quite nifty with a manual. As with most features I've found on the car, it's unnecessary, but convenient.

I find new stuff with it all the time. There's an option for how sensitive the auto headlights and wipers are, how loud the turn signal is, automatically lock when walking away from it...all sorts of stuff!

I am surprised how beautiful these led headlights are. I normally don't like led light: too bright and white. But in this car... I actually find that currently no other car can match the style and class of the 124 spider headlights.
I was surprised by the mid range torque, but then was coming from a BRZ S which have a notorius 3-4,000 rpm dip... :/
Addit: I was also surprised by the horn sounding when I lent over a locked car (hood was down) and opened the bonnet. I didn't realise the car had an alarm.

Exactly the range where the BRZ has ZERO torque! And that dip goes from 3000 to nearly 5000
Like others, the hill-holder clutch was a pleasant surprise. We have a lot of hills with 4-ways at the top here, and it saved my son's bacon when he drove it. The brightness of the LED headlights was great, and the first time I noticed the active system turning them to illuminate a curve in front of me was pretty cool.

The auto on feature is pretty good, too. I'm spoiled now. I keep forgetting to turn the headlights on in our other cars because I'm used to them coming on automatically.

I haven't had a chance to test the auto wipers yet, has we've had no rain since I bought it a month ago.
