I just bought a new spider Lusso and wanted wheel locks. There are none. That seems incredible to me. Does anyone know the size of the nut so I can possibly find them aftermarket?
Im waiting for the mopar version to come out.. hopefully soon.
I havent looked into others. Id guess that the mazda mx-5 locks would fit.. You could stop by the mazda dealer and find out.
I have the mopar locking wheel nuts fitted. But " is there a design fault?"
I was never happy with the appearance - they look too big.
Tonight I have taken one off the car and weighed both locking and standard nut.
Standard nut is 30 gms
Locking wheel nut is 75 gms. A difference of 45 gms.
I understand that this is an extra 45 gms at a radius of 50mm from the hub centre,
but will it make a significant difference to the dynamic balance of the wheel?
Has anyone here ventured past Mopar/Fiat/Mazda on locking wheel nuts? There has to be some other options out there, even options that don't have key patterns that are common to come by, which can go a long way, just make sure you have more than one key just in case!
While installing the lock nuts on the Abarth, I noticed the original nuts and lock nuts size of the socket i not the same. Also noticed that size is in Inches not metric.
Original nut socket is 13/16"
lock nut(fiat mopar part) uses 3/4"
you could use I think 20mm and 21mm, but a bit loose.
