I've been thinking - will I fit inside the 124 OK?

I hope they make it big enough, I'm 6'3 and can fit in most cars fine. I cannot fit in the MR2 though.

Anyone tried the new Mazda out for size?

One aspect that I never hear discussed regarding small cars is the width of the center console -- it makes a big impact on whether you feel comfortable in the car. Let's take the Lotus Elise and BMW Z4 for example. I actually feel like I have more room in the Elise because of the open center console area. The Z4's wide console makes the Z4 feel (surprisingly!) more claustrophobic. So I'm looking forward to sitting in an ND Miata to get an idea of the interior layout and how it actually feels to interact with the center console area.

have you tried the NC miata out of curiosity? The ND is realy not much different...

1. You sit lower than before, and the interior feels roomier.
Our first impression from being behind the wheel is that the stance of the car and your position in the cockpit are excellent. You sit lower in this car than in previous MX-5 Miatas, and the “impossibly low” hood gives the car a more aggressive sports-car feeling. Although the interior is still compact, it seems wider and roomier and should accommodate two reasonably sized adults in relative comfort

Even in pictures of both miata's there seems to be a noticable size difference which I can imagine translates into interior space.

Since ND's are about to hit dealers with NC's already on the road, we should be able to get some more insight into this.

I am 6'4 with long legs. It was very difficult for me to get into the MX-5 with the top down. Once in, it was a bit cramped, so ok for a short drive, but not enough room for a long trip. Overall, I decided I would not be happy struggling to get in and out of the car everyday. Looks like the new Fiat Spyder 124 has the same specs, so that won't fit me either. I want to buy new, foreign and stay in the $30K or less range. Looks like I will have to wait for a future model.

Hi Elvis,

I am 6'2" and I fit in the MX-5, but not by much. I suggest trying a non-sunroof Abarth. They have lots of headroom especially if you lower the seat and are a blast to drive. If you haven't tried one, I really think you owe it to yourself to give it a shot.
