Wrong plugs were used. The OEM plug, which there is virtually no flexibility on, is NGK SIKR9A7. People have tried alternatives and nothing works as well.

And no, you can't say "But they worked fine", because they didn't - they only lasted 2000 km.

It looks like you replaced the old wrong plugs with new wrong plugs. Those need to come out promptly and be replaced with the correct ones.

It is a 100% requirement on this engine to use the NGK SIKR9A7. The NGK will last you 50000 km.

(EDIT: Even if you meant 20,000 km not 2,000, that's still too early. Put in the correct plugs!)

just asking, what about plug wires? I've little experience but know of a case where wrong plugs AND wires were used and they were replaced over and over until it was "figured out". that's been 30+ years ago on a turbo engine.

There are no wires. The coils sit directly atop the spark plugs like most modern engines.
