A) I use, and have used for several years on several different vehicles, an AEM High Flow High Performance Dry Filter. I have always been very happy with these filters. Easy to clean and do an excellent job of filtering and easy to clean. Note: K&N now owns the vast majority of the aftermarket air filter companies.
B) Don't ever use an an oiled filter! Reason being, although they might be OK as they come new, meaning they might not be over-oiled, if you ever do clean and reoil it you stand an excellent chance of over-oiling it and thus you will mess up and kill the mass air flow sensor on your car. You'll be treated to a CEL, code or codes and spending additional $$$.
C) Years ago when looking into possibly buying a cold air intake for one of my trucks I found 2 or 3 articles relating to the fact if one wants to improve their vehicles intake buy a good filter but leave the OE airbox itself alone as most vehicle OE airboxes do their job better then anything you can buy aftermarket.
#2 does not apply to the 124, as it does not have a MAF.
