I purchased my second spider (new car) from McKinney, TX. I had it shipped to my SoCal location. I didn’t feel like making the drive. I want the miles on my car to be “me” miles, not conveyance miles. If the car meets your needs buy it and transport it.

I guess if one is traveling from "A" to "B" just to get from "A" to "B" with absolutely no interest in whats in between those two places or finds the task distasteful and wants it done in the quickest possible time with the least possible amount of interruption to their daily life then I can see your point, have it transported and get on with whatever it was you were doing.
But if one is going to travel from "A" to "B" and is in fact interested or curious about what might exist between these two points and/or one might actually like to drive, which is maybe why they bought a driver's car, then driving might very well be a viable option regardless of the distance involved. I've always considered the miles I put on my vehicles, be it motorcycle or truck or car, as "me" miles. Be it the 20 miles round trip to the hardware or a 75 mile afternoon romp or a 500+ mile weekend or a 4,000+ mile cross country road trip they are all "me" miles. We all had our reasons for buying our 124 spiders. We all view our relationship with our cars individually. The best part is the commonality of our passion for the 124 Spider and the final decision is always ours.

Your point is well taken. However, you need to look at what is between point A and point B. Are there new worthwhile discoveries there too enjoy or is it just make it to the next motel to regenerate. If taking 2 weeks to make the trip, I would agree that sightseeing would be worth it. In my case I have made the Texas to California trip many times and there are no ‘treasures’ left to see. I have made several 1k+ trips in this car and for me the car is a delight to drive. I have never experienced any fatigue with this car.

I agree that each occurrence is up to what the driver wants. My point is delivery works. I’ve had two cars delivered in the last 3 years and I am very happy with the service.
