Hmm. I kinda remember some parts of the movie, but yeah, mostly it wasn’t really real.

There were the occasional cowboys, very passionate, but generally annoying and we all made fun of them.

Mostly you just plug in and do your time. Kinda like prison.

Thank you for your service?

As a passenger, I know we just have to trust.

You’re in good hands with…

We had a guy, Jake, and on his first day he shows up in a red polo. Guess what his nickname became.

And to quote Tom Hanks, there is no crying in baseball…but there is on ground control.

To get back to the thread, I called the customer service number and they want me to go to the dealership so they can officially declare that my car is under recall. From there, who knows. The possibility of getting a loaner or rental until there is a fix was offered. How long am I got drive around in an Enterprise Nissan rental special while they work on a fix? And what happens to my car? Is it going sit outside on the dealership back lot getting pooped on all summer long?

It’s a shame that our great cars were made by an incompetently led manufacturer. In the meantime, enjoying the ride.

Weird!
Are the folks at Fiat Customer Service claiming your 124 Spider does not officially fall within the parameters of the recall, A3b/24V-694, issued back in September of 2024? The recall that according to the NHTSA include all 2017-2020 124 Spider without exception.
If that's their position and the reasoning for their request that you take your car to a dealer and surrender it until a fix becomes available that's leads directly to the next inevitable question.
Does Fiat not yet, after 6 months and given the fact that Mazda apparently does, have a fix/remedy for the erroneous software programming that supposedly exists in the airbag control module of the all 2017-2020 124 Spiders? Are these people still looking for Beta Group volunteer vehicles even after they supposedly had such a group and supposedly tested a possible fix back in February of this year?
Hmm?
The plot possibly thickens and none of this makes any sense.

Update…tookhe car into the dealership to “officially“ diagnose the car with an open recall.

I forwarded the information to FCA/Stalantis. I got an email letter the next day (it seemed written by someone who’s either a non native English speaker or a really bad AI) saying that the corporate has determined that the car is safe to drive, and so no reimbursement for a rental or loaner is necessary.

Oh gee…that makes me feel so much better.

So there you have it. We don’t need any Willy nilly diddle daddle government oversight. We have the corporate bean counters to determine that “Ceti Alpha VI” has checked out fine. (Spoken in a Russian accent by an ear infected Chekhov.)

Anyway, last minute trip to Utah. Car was packed! The IKEA table and two chairs wouldn’t fit in the trunk. Didn’t have use of the parking break, so slept the night in the car at some rest stop at 8k. But will be skiing all weekend.

It’s a do all car.

I for one would like to say "Thanks" for the update.

Your dealer experience and follow-up, after customer service asked to take your car into a dealer, seems to align pretty well with how Fiat has handle all this so far and does not bode well for how it is going to be handling this recall going forward.

Enjoy your ski trip!

Spider On!

Not quite that simple.
Airbag is $1500 new.
But you are required to replace the module on the steering column; plus the WHOLE steering column; seatbelt tensioners and module; etc. etc. Also the front sensors for the airbag. All in all, a very costly repair. And then you have to bring it into Boston to get recertified. Can't make an appointment for that; you have to flatbed the car in and wait. If they don't get to you, you flatbed it back and then try it again another day.

The issue is, the airbag went off full force in what amounted to a tap... that is what the recall is about I believe.
@billy.claire

Hey Billy, I saw this place mentioned in another forum. They do airbag recerts, resets, seatbelts etc. I think they’re in MA. I thought it could possibly help you out.

Yeah, if I could have bought the car back from insurance I was going to go that route but.... it didn't work.
