I’m thinking about updating my Waste-gate actuator but not really sure if I need to? Maybe it’s just a ”need to bolt something to my spider” thing, I don’t know
Who has replaced their WG. I know I asked this question but didn’t get the replies I thought I would
you can look at my signature at the bottom and see what modifications I have
Did you notice any performance?
what kind did you get?
would you do it again?

EDIT: I Ordered a Forge WGA (Yellow Spring) should be here soon

Thanks in advance

Doug

It's not really a "Need to" on the stock turbo, to be honest. Some people report better performance, but IMHO it's a placebo. It's really when you start tuning on the higher levels of boost that the extra control from an upgraded WGA is needed.

Is a wastegate actuator upgrade actually going to result in noticeable performance dividends on a stock or Phase 1 tune? The answer(s) to that question is most likely going to be in the mind, the perception, and/or the butt dyno of the owner/driver who decided to do that upgrade.

How many can say that swapping out the OE diverter valve for a GFB DV+ upgraded diverter valve made their car a roaring world class beast? But it sure gave them piece of mind and made them feel better knowing they had done just a small amount to ensure the turbo on their car was operating as efficiently as possible.

Swapping out the OE wastegate actuator for an upgraded version, be it Forge or Turbosmart, is going to be along that same line of thought as changing out the diverter valve - doing what you can to ensure the turbo is working as efficiently as possible.

You just have to decide, if you decide to go this route, whether you want to go with a piston design, Forge, or a diaphragm design, Turbosmart, actuator. Both are good and both are upgrades and more efficient than the OE actuator. Lots of people have the Forge installed on their cars. Lots of folks are using the Turbosmart, that's the one I have on my car. Your decision to make.

And yea, it is fun to spend money on new stuff for your car, especially stuff that may actually be of some bebefit.

Im still stock turbo and swapped mine to the TS unit, no its not faster or making different boost or anything but my stock WGA seemed to be “sticky” sometimes in lower rpm and boost would fluctuate while trying to build pressure and with the swap out that went away. Just runs a little smoother.

Ok looks like I have yet another modification to purchase
@Artack did you replace your WG?
Damn it I thought I was done

I’m trying to squeeze as much efficiency out of my turbo as possible

every little bit counts

Hey Steele,
Yes, I went with the Forge WGA and find that I am glad I did. As stated above nothing earth shattering in the way the car response, but I do get a "smoothing out" of turbo boost, if that make sense (I may go to P2 with doing a FMIC upgrade and a WGA upgrade is recommended) . Would I do it again, yes. I think that the Forge part is superior to the OEM. I gained knowledge during the research, how to set pre-set tension, installed it myself and generally feel it is a good addition to the car. It is much like replacing the OEM DV with a GFB DV+, but to me, I could feel a little bit more of positive change.
