USB ports died

So first I thought the charging port on my iPhone died. I was listening to music via the USB and charging my iPhone. Then it stopped playing music and stopped charging. But then I noticed it wouldn't even recognize that a phone was plugged in. Now it seems both USB ports are totally dead. Crap.
Anyone have this before?

It’s intermittent now so I’m positive it’s not a fuse. Works for a bit then stops. (Affects both ports). Disconnect the battery, do a nav reset and it works. For a bit...

Maybe your wire is CAPUT, change wire if still not working, Sell Car:D

Try connecting a USB stick. The other question is, does the USB port charge a phone.

Used 3 different cords. Doesn’t charge the phone at all.

Tom if you plug your phone on AC outlet does it charge. If yes, then maybe the spider USB got enlarged thus not making a proper connection.

Also plug a USB stick see if it plays music. (put some Italian music, it may help) LOL

My phone charges everywhere but the USB ports. Well that’s not entirely true. The USB ports are now intermittent. Sometimes they work then after a random period of time, they don’t and I do a battery reset which (seems to) help.
It’s very strange. But let’s picture all the Fiat dealer nightmare stories here and just imagine how this is going to go. I just told @BillaVista in his thread the other day I hope to god I don’t ever have to visit a dealer.

That's sad, mind you I use a USB stick to play music, I have never tried to charge a phone on the USB. I use the DC cigarette connector.

Question, have other tried to charge their phone through the USB. I will try another day, yesterday nice warm day, washed the car, today well cloudy and raining. So spider stays in. LOL

By the way did you get the filters.

Hi Julie, he sold the car, but I think the problem RE: USB was his cell phone.

I can say that the USB ports have challenges.

After I paired my phone and enabled text message display, I started having an issue with my USB ports.... and I don't use the USB ports to charge or connect my phone. The pairing was all Bluetooth. So now I have a situation, where both ports work, but only one concurrently. In other words, plus a stick in USB1, and it's recognized and plays music. With that port in use, plug in a second stick in USB2.... nothing. It stays greyed out in the audio options list.

Now, here's where it gets strange. If I unplug both sticks and then plug the first one back into USB2, it becomes active and will play. Plus a second stick into USB1, and USB1 becomes the dead port.

So, both ports appear to be functional, just not at the same time. I'm not an electrical kind of guy, so my question is, could this be a power management issue?

I've reset the infotainment system. Not a solution.
I've unpaired the phone, and reset the infotainment system Not a solution.
I've disconnected the car battery, waited two hours, reconnected and reset the infotainment system. Not a solution.

Nothing brings the ability to have both USB ports in use concurrently any more. I may have to escalate to FCA for resolution, but to date, I've found no one else who's experienced the same problem.

Mine ended up being my phone I’m sure if it. I had the screen replaced a day or two prior and it began to do the same thing in my daily driver as well
